Go for the complete super-duper online game!

Bah, accidentally lost what I was typing!

Anyway, basically, I'm always online, love the idea of your save games being stored online, and am concerned about how much of your bandwidth will be taken-up by the game downloading levels.

I voted that I really want online play but I could live with offline play. Yeah, that's my vote. What if I won't have internet because of... something like...umm.... computer breaks because of old age? :p

Seriously. In a few years maybe. Then I'll HAVE to live with offline. :p

Well... in that case offline isn't going to work either, is it?

I think that the internet is only going to become more important, so you should do stuff like that, preferablly connecting through Dumb Accounts.

If this game is online I WILL NOT BUY IT!
'Cause I can't.
I've got little internet band and if this game is as big as it sounds then i would lose my it by the end of the week! Anyway, whats wrong with all the off line games on the website? Should they be online to?

Re: HPG: Internet Required?

It won't use up much bandwidth at all - it'll be equivalent to browsing the web... only without the images! In fact, I take that back, it should actually end up being a lot LESS than even just the text of web pages at a reasonable pace. Bandwidth really won't be an issue.

There will of course be large downloading as you encounter new areas and monsters, but that's exactly the same as if you downloaded an offline game in the first place - just spread out over time instead of all at once.

Two edits to say:

- Actually, it's about equivalent to using the chat room, I would say. In part, it IS a chat room, and that's what will be using the most traffic. Which is of course almost none, like any chat system.
- And also, of course if you always buy our games on CD because the downloads are too big, then the downloading involved would be an issue for you! I do understand that, and that's why this poll is here.

I'm annoyed. I can't decide. On the one hand all the cool features would be cool but I'd rather it be offline no matter what I voted.

I've just placed my vote. I don't mind the game being online. Everyone's connected these days anyway, so it isn't too much of a problem.

Jamul, will the new game support Mac OS X?

Re: HPG: Internet Required?

Okay, online is a must if you don't feel like going through the loads of extra effort it would apparently take. I don't mind.

Free Roaming Game?

So if internet is required, ppl can interact with one another, trade things and stuff like that like in Maplestory. And its free roaming like Grand Theft Auto but not so violent?
Anyway,I support online!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Re: Free Roaming Game?

No, there will be no Mac version initially. It would be nice to have it ported someday, but that seems to be getting tougher to get done all the time.

Not really like in Maple Story; you will never see another player.

Re: HPG: Internet Required?

I voted for Offline. I understand the appeal of all the fancy online stuff, but there are still lots of us out here who don't have the "anytime and anywhere you want it" internet access that others have. Though to be fair, I guess Jamul should make the best game he can, and just put it out there. If that's online, then so be it. There will be some who won't buy it, but I imagine plenty will.
I still have to play LL2 (I keep losing my install files), so I always have that to look forward to.

Pretty much (which is one of the biggest things I've been looking forward to :D). Hopefully Jamul will still implement cars, to keep up with that Auto aspect. :)

Already been explained.

You can only have one or the other. BTW, since Jamul apparently already has the coding for an in-game chat and whatnot finished, I'm fairly certain it's going to be online, so I'd say the poll is technically closed anyway (maybe the thread should be as well -o_-o).

EDIT: BTW, if your connection is fast enough to handle online play, there shouldn't be a reason you'd want offline play, since it would've been the same as online play minus additional features like the chat and whatnot.

Oh. So would story mode be online or offline then?

AFAIK the whole game is online, and it has to be for the online features to work. And there's no reason why any part of it should be offline; "online features" doesn't mean multiplayer, just some fun stuff to do that involves the internet.
