Never say "MODELS BUILT OF LEGOs".

It's official. I was reading some of this (don't ask why. :p) and came across the following:
Quote:

If the LEGO trademark is used at all, it should always be used as an adjective, not as a noun. For example, say "MODELS BUILT OF LEGO BRICKS". Never say "MODELS BUILT OF LEGOs".
See! I knew 'LEGOs' sounded wrong! In fact, my spell checker marks it as wrong, but 'LEGO' is accepted. Ha!

It's the whole thing if they don't at least have that thing they lose their trademark on the name... I forget what it's happened to before though....

Wait a minute... I believe that software pirates are against corporate interests...

Egads! It's a paradox!

I highly endorse this statement, because I was planning on saying it.

Also, beware The Man, The Corporations, The War Machine, and Big Brother. [And keep a watchful eye on I.]

Exactly. A company has to defend a trademark from being genericized or it isn't a trademark anymore. I think I recall Band-aid changed their theme song to avoid this... they just inserted the word "brand".

Band-Aid [As SM mentioned], Jello, Kleenex, ?Q-Tip?, [Photoshop and Google sort of] - all brand name items that became generic after the names became so closely associated with the product genre. [I'm guessing there are more.]

Well, photoshop is on the edge... I almost mentioned Kleenex, by saying that we don't usually say facial tissues :p

But, yeah, I forgot about Frisbee. *looks up on wikipedia*

Genericized trademarks include the Escalator and Kerosene... huh.
