Hamumu Wiki Trouble

I have decided to drop in to see how things are going and a few Dr L pages have been wiped clean! :0

I don't know who is the admin of the Wiki so I don't know how to report this.

Edit: Just disregard this whole post.
I have no clue what just happened.

Which pages specifically (can you link them)? I should have enough admin powers to fix whatever is going on.

It was these:

http://hamumu.wikia.com/wiki/Dr._Lunatic_(game)
http://hamumu.wikia.com/wiki/Dr_Lunatic_Help
(I cannot find the Link to the third one)

But apparently they were restored somehow...

Re: Hamumu Wiki Trouble

I undid your edit on Dr. Lunatic (game) because the preview in the history showed your edit as the one that removed everything, but it didn't actually do that at all (only 325 characters removed, certainly not the whole page...)

Then I looked back and the edit history seemed to be correct again (that is, it didn't show the entire page as being gone anymore), so I undid the undo and everything seemed fine...

I don't know what happened. I figured maybe someone else had done something more behind-the-scenes.

I think taking backups offline can easily solve this problem. In my opinion it's very easy to cause malice to Wikias.

Re: Hamumu Wiki Trouble

It sounds like there was some sort of ephemeral bug or issue with Wikia's servers that caused the page to appear to have no contents, as indeed the only changes to the Dr. L page are BD adding back then re-removing the small section. Hopefully whatever it was doesn't happen again.

ChessManiac, while of course I would never argue against offline backups (and indeed I do keep backups of the wiki), in the general case wiki software (especially MediaWiki, which is used by Wikipedia, Wikia, amd many others) has very strong support for viewing the edit history of pages and undoing or otherwise fixing potentially undesired edits, making vandalism easy to deal with even without offline backups.
