Hi, first I would like to say, thank you for signing up for Loonyland 2 Mafia - if you did. If you didn't, then... thank you for watching the game. Or just stumbling onto this page.

I would like responses on this stuff, so please tell me how you felt about it...

Some things that were different in rules and set-up about this game from my other games:
  • There were no (helpful) last gasps, except for diginova, who didn't use his.
  • There was no list of roles in the game.
  • The Mafia can blend into the crowd with a list of safe claims.
  • Mafia killing was not done as a group, the Godfather sent out his subjects.
  • To go along with that no Mafia group killing, there was no cop, but there was a tracker.
  • The Mafia had no extra powers in terms of things like mafia roleblocker (unless you count the nightkill immune GF).
  • Monsters were good roles this time?
  • Not a rule or set-up thing, but the scenes were a lot shorter this game!
The no (helpful) last gasp rule was interesting to see take place. We didn't get a length last gasp like Hammered usually does (in fact, I didn't see much of Hammered in this game at all! Oh well), but I think it was still a slight advantage to the Mafia, since they really don't have much information to give away to their cohorts without giving them away.

Since there was no list of roles this game, I think there was almost a mass claiming going on - almost. Safe claims were also good, I think Roland did a pretty good job claiming Historian, it went undisputed and he even changed his avatar to him... (Note to future Mafia players - don't do that next game, now that I mentioned he did that )

There were monsters in Loonyland 2 that try to kill you that... um... don't try to kill you in this game. Why? I'm not really sure, but it would be boring with just a bunch of NPCs, I guess. Besides, Killbor had to be in this game, although I guess that doesn't account for monsters that don't try to kill you in the overworld...

The scenes took a lot less time to do than my other two games - there wasn't a host like character this game, nor was there a primary Mafia overlord that's not a role! Much more focused on the player. I hope my writing is improving over time! Well, that's enough about rule and set-up...

Coolguy was a very good player this game, and I know he's going to say something here like, "I always am!" People doing things like, "I'm gonna wait for CG's comment on this" probably helps a bit, but it helps that he was a good leader this game. I'm not really sure what to think of his lying to get rid of Roland, but whatever works... Other townies, make you don't always follow him every game, never know when he's evil/wrong/just grating on you...

Roland and the rest of the Mafia tried hard this game... Although I did see a mistake. Roland shouldn't have said something like, "I think the Mafia is a group of four, and they're not random monsters, they're in the Onion Ring", next time wait for the town to figure it out! Okay, well that's just one thing, but I think giving away information that the Mafia know is pretty bad... And on Day 5, your first post then was kinda silly, you were pointing out everyone that was not you or Coolguy and then guessed whether they were just the Diabolical Onion, and then the post where you knew regeneratorizer was evil - who knows, maybe Wesley would have gotten blamed if CG posted before then, and there wouldn't be a connection between you and regen!

ducklegion - next time don't use both your kills trying to get rid of Hammered

Ufo-Man - Please don't act crazy next time... What was with the whole recruiting mason thing anyway? Maybe I should have clarified that a bit... nah, the host shouldn't interrupt the game to point out, "Hey, you got that role wrong".

Um, do I have anything else to say? No, that's all I can think of right now... Once again, thank you for playing/reading, please tell what you think so future games are also this fun!

Okay, an interesting thing that could've changed the game dramatically:

I actually was going to target Coolguy Night 1, because my logic was that if someone was smart enough to target Coolguy or Hammered, they'd probably pick Hammered. Turned out to be a correct assumption. But I changed my mind, thanks to Mr.Onion!

Point the Second:

Ducklegion, what on earth were you doing with vig-killing Hammered?!

Alright, I have to say this, because I see it happen time and time again. Are you insane, DL? Why on earth did you try to kill me on Night 1? Night 2 makes very little sense either, but Night 1 makes no sense at all.

For the future reference of all players:

GOOD STRATEGY FOR MAFIA:
If you don't know who has a power role, kill the smart townies.

They will surely cause you problems later, if you don't, but still the power roles are a bigger danger, so get them, if they are silly enough to give themselves away.

BAD STRATEGY FOR TOWNIES:
If you aren't sure who to trust yet, kill the smart people, for the crime of being alive.
Not all of the smart people are mafia. If the random pick puts all the smartest players on the mafia team, the host will probably be smart enough to randomly reassign some of them to the town to give the game a little balance. If the random pick puts all of the smartest players on the town team, the host may not do anything, since, even though they are smart, they are not working together, because they are unaware that they are on the same team.
This means that the town will most likely have smart players. These players are there to help you. The mafia will kill them off soon enough because they are afraid of them. They love it when the townies help them out by killing them off themselves. These games typically wind up with all the quality players being gone after just a few days and then they take forever, because the smart townies are sitting on the side lines pulling their hair out going "Why can't you people see that so-and-so is obviously evil?" because you threw them out of the game.
Use your resources. Don't kill them!

Exactly. I know that I couldn't have won the game if it weren't for Woody Woodsman here. He gave proof of townieness, and was a smart player. A cop as well. When I followed his last instructions, the town won. But don't trust him. He might be mafia next game.

Bonus Stuff!

After the creation of this new Mafia & Forum Games board, I realized that I had some written stuff that I was using to test out the writing style of this game. This is on my website as well, but I wanted to put it here too. Well, here it is!

You wake up this morning thanks to some puff of wind. Or was it the smoke off a recently fired gun? Oh wait, it was a draft. Curse these snowy walls surrounding the town, they have been making everything much chillier.

You look outside, and see some big pancake. Mmm, looks like the Mafia are at least supplying food while everyone is being trapped here. You grab a plate and some utensils, then hurry out to get a slice.

But before you start carving, you notice that this is not a pancake - at least not a normal one. No! It looks like... oh my goodness... Randomman has been into a human pancake! With some heavy object, no doubt. You sigh, then join everyone else with scraping him off with a giant spatula. While scraping the flapjack man off the ground, you notice a note flying by from his pockets. You pick it up and read it,

Everyone looks around, the buildings are still in place.

"Well, you're going to regret it!" he yells.

Everyone has no regrets.

"Well... maybe you'll frown for a moment."

"Hang him already!"

Randomman sighs. "Okay, string me up."

One hanging later, the town cheers - until a note flies out of Randomman's pocket.
