I like Laptops. You can play Hamumu Games everywhere. I only don't like that the keyboard has so flat keys.

That link's from Dell - you got the adware somewhere else.

The first popup appeared the second I clicked that link. More were to come. Besides, should I really trust a page with that many banner ads on it?

Don't mistake adware for just websites with a lot of advertising

Plus, I have an ad blocker

Whether or not a laptop is any good, of course, depends on what you want to do with it.
For example, I spend most of my time on my PC playing games, so a laptop as an alternative wouldn't come in very handy.
However, if I just wanted a quick check on the internet, providing there's a Wi-Fi connection nearby, then a laptop is probably the way to go.

Get Firefiox, and the Ad-Block Plus addon. Also, pop-ups are not adware. Adware is stuff that's installed on your PC.

EDIT: On topic, laptops tend to be far more expensive for the spec than desktops are. Though I guess a cheap one could be handy, and Hamumu games will probably run on just about anything.

You really think I don't know that? Adware CAUSES POPUPS. Even when you are not online. Everyone knows that.

But if it caused the popups, then the Dell site had nothing to do with it... Adware needs to install itself to display ads, so unless you chose to let it install something, it's just pop-ups.

Ah, but the popups appeared on other sites, and even when I wasn't online. That is definitely adware.

The fact that the popups showed up elsewhere does prove it's adware, but as atkinsSJ said, you have to have installed something for it to occur, so the link to the dell site is not responsible for your computer having the adware.

Well, there's this statistic where it's called 'drive-by downloads' basically, a website gets infected, and automatically installs the thing. adware isn't exactly going to use install shield or a normal installer

Lol, while its true adware isn't going to just pop up and say "Hey, want me to infect your system and annoy the heck out of you?", most 'drive-by downloads' wont work either. Most internet browsers these days sense any automated downloads and either cancel, or ask the user to confirm the file's permission. If the adware file is able to pass that boundary without the system noticing, I'm impressed at either the skills of the file's creator, or the patheticness of the system it broke into.

Post Re: Who likes laptops

Ive got a laptop. Im on it right now. I do everything computer-related on it. Its frustrating, it breaks a lot and it's got a puny hard drive, but I like it. Ive had it for a long time. A very long time. The only computer I can remeber in the entire house was an old windows 2000 pc. Its got slow internet, but thats ok, cos Im quite patient, every time I start it up I get a warning from norton 2004 saying its the 'most trusted anti-virus programme in the world' and he never shuts up. But its great, cos if I have freinds round and we're in a different room, I can just take it down and plug it in. It handles having so many programmes on it even with its slow proccesor. I think I'l stop typing now.
