Ooh, SimAnt was one of my first games... awesomely fun. Played SimFarm quite a bit too, but I could never work-out how to stop the crop-duster once you'd started it flying. XD

Wii Virual Console is great, you can to play so many classics on it. I've got Shining Force on it, which I haven't played in a long time. The downside is I've heard that the virtual games are more expensive then buying the system and game themselves. Ah well, convenience.

Games are 10 dollars tops. I have no idea where you're getting old systems, but old systems are at least 50 dollars by themselves over here. And they're probably getting more expensive because there aren't any more being made. It also depends on what old school game you're buying too. I saw an unopened copy of Secret of Mana for about a good $100 bucks or so. I'm sure a used copy would go for about $40. Kirby Super Star went for $40.

Do you still have it? I used to but it was on floppy (my new computer doesn't handle floppy) and I wanna play it again.

BTW, did you ever get to the lawn? With the mower? That got really hard. I can't remember how to do it but I DO remember that if you got your ant strong enough you could attack antlions and burrow around underneath them.

Ooh, I've no idea where it is. You could probably find it on ebay.

I remember getting into the house, but not much else. Other than using lots of cheats.

I recall playing SimAnt at school. Never got it at home, though...

At home I used to play essentially nothing but Humongous Entertainment games. Spy Fox, Putt-Putt, Pajama Sam and the like. Extremely cool (for kid games anyways )

I'm far more ancient than most people round here.

My first game would have been for the Sinclair ZX81, probably running with a whopping 1 kilobyte of Ram (including the display memory) rather than with the giant size 16k Ram pack. I have no idea what the game was.

Then there was the ZX Spectrum for which I had hundreds of games and a whole 48k to run them on. Famous ones were Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy, platform games. I must have solved over 100 text adventures and spent too many hours playing games and writing programs. That was back when I knew how to program computers. The days of cheat pokes and low-resolution graphics on a TV screen, of games taking 6 minutes to load from an audio cassette which seemed quick and exciting. Now they take a second to load at http://zxspectrum.net/

Yes, I am that ancient!
