and,
@pumpkineater: more notes != better, obviously we've never seen anything like that on guitar, it's a piece for piano/harpsichord, you can't judge two instruments based on what songs you can play on them, since they have different purposes as instruments. It's like saying Tubas > Drums because you can't play any melody or harmony on drums.
The applicability of an instrument indeed should be accounted when picking it. While I did not say more notes were better than less, that too is true, and can be related to graphics. Truecolor is much better than 2-bit color, and that usually applies to musical instruments too.
Tubas are better than Drums, Organs are better than Pianos, Pianos are better than keyboards and Pianos are better than guitars. I have to say though, even though keyboards do initially work as a piano, once you advance to better pieces, you really feel a need for an actual piano, since the keyboard has those and many more major flaws:
-All keyboards I have seen lack notes that the piano has. A lot of piano songs can therefore not be emulated on a keyboard.
-The feel is not the same. The notes feel like they are buttons (which they are), not actual piano notes. This can lead to general frustration once you are used to how a piano feels.
-The sound is horrible compared to the actual thing. You would think since it is probably recorded, the speakers could reproduce it perfectly. Know what? They don't.
My main point is, the piano family is better. If you want to play around a bit with the instrument, get a keyboard, but if you decide that you want to take it seriously and learn to play well, get a piano.

PE, the worlds longest piano sounded so good, I barely play my regular piano at all, and when I started playing the piano, my keyboard gathered dust. Your post is 100% truthful, save the bit about the organ. I would only make the comparison between instruments of the same type, and thus, as a wind instrument, the organ can't be compared with a piano. However, one comparison of such can be made, as Glockenspiels > Recorders.

My bad there for not being quite clear enough, by drums I meant a drum-kit, not tympani or anything like that. Just to be clear. I was referring moreso to the fact that generally a drum-kit's purpose in a band is to keep the beat, though you could technically do all sorts of stuff if you really wanted to.

That is in no way true, since tons of them are repeats.

Hey, don't diss the drums till you can play like Buddy Rich or Neil Peart.

Anyhow, the instrument you should get depends on what you listen to. I personally prefer the guitar because of the transportability, versatility (if you count all the notes, bends, ho/pos, and tunings, a guitar can make a wider array of sounds than a keyboard without electronic effects) and chick magnetism. Also, I pretty much exclusively listen to rock and metal with a little jazz.
