It is still the mafia lying and most town members wouldn't use the chat much for fear that they were talking to a mafia.

So-and-so might be lying, but they might also be telling the truth. And there are ways to test it. Say someone tells you they're a role that can investigate people and learn their roles. They can prove this by telling you your role. In fact, that's how most alliances start. Such an investigative role contacts a role they know for sure to be innocent. You can also plot or even use it to lie.

Thats part of the point, I think. Helps the town much more than it helps the mafia.

The Mafia already has a huge advantage, and if anything, this increases it, because they can spread lies and learn roles.

I don't know, Mafia 11 and 12 the sides have been well balance, even without private communication.

or , you could all try for 2 or 3 games to see how is it and after that make a permanent change or not

Yea, if it was added it would probably only be by a host or two, at hamumu hosts are generally the rule makers for there own game. We just have general suggestions and basic guidelines to follow.

If private communication allowance was ever going to become a rule guideline, it would have to be host's decicion. I'm not particularly keen on the idea, or of forcing a rule onto all games that some hosts aren't happy with *COUGHHACK*RULE 3C*COUGHHACK*

I have still not received all votes on this subject, and currently, Host is beating Yes on Rule 3C 11-9.
