I still read the forums near-daily, but there's not much to post about, especially since Growtopia turned out to not quite be my game. I tenuously completed two years of a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and am working on taking things from there. I still enjoy reverse engineering and studying programming languages, and sometimes do gamedev for fun even though I'm not very good at it. (Maybe if I finish a project for once, I'll post it here.)

Hamumu was a big part of my life, helping foster my (admittedly pre-existing) interest in gamedev and CS, and some really strong friendships - I still hang out online with Davedude, Blackduck, Redbone, Kerma, and moltanem2000 on a regular basis to this day.

I finally just recently completed Supreme with Cheese 100% (after maybe 3 or 4 bursts of activity, with many months in-between), and intend to get around to pushing my Halloween Horror worlds through review and finish compiling my Lost Levels, and if I can solve some more bugs get one more bugfix release in to Jamul, but I'll probably be putting SWC down for some time after that. It's been a very long-lasting game.

It's been great to read everyone else's posts in the thread. Best of luck to you all!

I, too, am embarrassed and ashamed of a lot of things I've said and done on here, but I don't regret my time here one bit. This community fostered a lot of my interests and personality, and I would not have become who I am today without it. With that said, twelve years, huh?

Unfortunately, I don't have much to share in terms of extravagant success stories. The past few years have been a slow grind of dealing with mental health issues and figuring out what I want to do with my life. That's not to say I haven't made progress—I'm currently trying to get a foothold in post-secondary education—but it pales in comparison to what everyone around me has accomplished. Sure not giving up anytime soon, though!

Thumbs up Re: Is anyone still there? (I feel so old)

I just remembered the zombie RPGs PlasmaCannonsRule, I, and a few others participated in. Some of the stories were actually pretty lengthy and cool (as far as action goes), but that may just be nostalgia. I got in trouble for originally making it too gory, description-wise. :P
(I just read the sig, what a throwback)

Hey-o, is this the Hamumu Oldies: Where Are They Now thread? Sure seems like it!

I've been up and down the internet for the last couple years, and it's only this month that I brushed the dust off the old Dumb Account. Surprised to see Jamul has a Big Phone Game, wowza! Who would've thought of that back in Double-O-Six?

Nowadays, I'm working with elementary kids both in class and at recess, and I hope to have a teaching degree down the line. It took me a while to find my niche, but I'm happy with what I'm doing now.

Oh yeah, and I might have a world coming out? Keep your fingers crossed, compadres.

I haven't checked on Hamumu in a long, long time and just happened to think of it in a nostalgic moment, so it's nice to see that a few of the other way-old-timers are checking in these days too.

I've just finished my first year at a conservatory pursuing a performance degree in classical piano, and spend most of my time these days practicing and trying to get some publicity with concerts and competitions. I more or less quit playing Hamumu games after switching to a Mac, and these days the only games I ever really play are the Dark Souls series. But I still have an old Windows 7 laptop with SWC, Kid Mystic, and both LoonyLand's installed and waiting... I may have to boot it up again for a trip down memory lane. It's hard to believe it's been 13 years since I first played the original Loonyland and got my account on the forums. I owe a lot of thanks to Jamul for creating such remarkable games that fostered a community as rich as the Hamumu forums of my childhood.

I hope you're all doing well!

I saw this thread a couple of months ago and wasn't sure whether to post, but why not! Especially as there are so many names I'd half-forgotten! Seems like forever ago. Apparently I was still posting in 2011 though? Crazy. And the Pointless Story world still isn't finished. XD

I've bounced around a few different computery jobs with varying degrees of success, by which I mean everything went wrong over and over until I broke. (A temp data entry job that was fine, then a couple of failed attempts at freelancing, and a web dev job that gave me a nervous breakdown which I am just beginning to recover from several years later.) Then I made a game and app that sold very little, along with a bunch of little free games. Finally, I have an online job which is basically the best thing that's ever happened to me, but is top secret. I'm also working on a few game/app projects in whatever spare time I have over, and I'm also a mod in Growtopia which is pretty hectic!

Glad to hear good things from people! And yeah, I think my early posts here are probably so bad that I don't even want to consider rooting through them. Feel free to do that and laugh at me if you're particularly bored though. :P

Hi, this is the first time I've been here in years! I was already an adult when I joined so now I feel pretty old seeing all you guys at Uni etc! I left because I got married, and had a baby and stopped working (which was where I used to play - on my lunch break). My family is my life and takes up all my time, which is both satisfying and really hard at the same time. Currently pregnant with my third, I'm avoiding watching the Wales v Portugal match (as the only other match I was able to watch in this tournament, they lost, and I really want them to win! - silly I know, but hey, I'm pregnant and almost middle aged, I'm allowed to be silly! ). I had a happy birthday email recently from here so I thought I'd have a look around. Just found my discs with my back-ups so going to attempt to load Loneyland 2 and supreme onto my pc. Eek! I hope they work!!!!

While I posted already, I didn't really say much about myself and where I am. I have half a year left in my honors degree in Electrical Engineering, with little to no plan after that. I still game, though making games is rare for me now, and I occasionally replay old Hamumu titles for nostalgia purposes.

I really do miss this place, and feel like I'd still be active if there were others around too, but too often now it feels like a graveyard of memories past, so I don't come here as much. It's really cool to see all the people I remember posting here about their new lives though.

Apparently, I'm still 5th in Costume Party, and only have 31 levels left to complete, so who knows, I might do that at some point...

Wink Re: Is anyone still there? (I feel so old)

Well, it has certainly been a while since I had last been here, but I have changed along the way. Looking back at my previous posts and what I've said and done, I am very embarsassed and shocked with a great deal of my words. I apologise to everyone, including Jamul - of whom while I do not agree with all of his decisions I can understand his need to live - for my brash and childish comments.

I have also realised that I was wrong about some ideological suggestions. I had once said that it would be stimulating if Dr. Lunatic Supreme With Cheese worlds were more controversial, but in recent times I have rethinked my position. I have seen that in order to be controversial, conventions and quality must come first otherwise many works will end up being like the Social Justice Warrior rampages of today, where shock-value trumps actual art.

In my life, I have been progressing with my academic path well having passed my Foundation Year with distinctions in all of my subjects and having been able to enter my first year at the undergraduate level in the sciences. My foray into game development didn't turn out to come to be, but I feel I am happier with the sciences. There appears to be more interesting opportunities to take.

But I am glad that the forum is back up. I feel that this place is unique in that community members have to expend some effort and thought before posting content. I once roamed about the Ao Oni gaming community, but I found their distribution methods to be anarchic and dangerous, as they would often only post one-liners when advertising their fan-games and expect their audience to download content from shady websites.

I'm new to the forums, but not to these games. They are a strong feature in my memories from childhood, and the first game I bought online with my own money was Supreme With Cheese. And now I'm doing Software Engineering. So I mean, even if the forums are pretty dead, I'll definitely be hopping on once and a while to see how things are going.

Woah. Forums are back up. Well, I may not be a well recognized face in this community, seeing as I've always been on the quiet side (lurking and what not), but this site holds a lot of memories. College is massively time consuming, and I still have a world left unfinished, but maybe that'll be fixed sometime? Sorta glad to see everyone collecting here though - reuniting and nostalgia-ing.

Well this is a pleasant surprise.

I'd kinda disappeared from Hamumu for several years, until a few months ago when I checked the forums and it said they were disabled "for a few days". Checked back again after about a month and it still said that, so I assumed that it was permanently down and would never be back.

Last night I was feeling nostalgic, so I looked back at the forum through the wayback machine and discovered that apparently the forums were back up. It's nice to see so many familiar face... er... avatars again.
