Default A moment of silence please...

Let us pray for the victims of the 9/11 world trade center attacks.

I was so shocked when I saw it on the news. I didn't want use airliners for a long time...

Just the sight of the plane descending into the tower made my adrenaline go high and I began to shiver.

It is a sight that will never leave my mind.

i remember i was in history class when it happened. and it was the first day we were actually going to learn something in history in 7th grade. i remember being in room 204 when the principal back then announced it on the pa system, and speculating about who was behind it during homeroom the next day.

I was in 5th grade. I think I was in Math class, and we got some news that the WTT's (World Trade Towers) got struck down. That was something to remember. It's too bad those terrorists hate us Americans a lot. Can't we just get along? It's ok to have war, though. Sometimes in order to make peace, you have to destroy those who cause war.

dude, that alone is hypocritical. you're saying that we should go to war to get peace? because that is really, in a sense, ironic.

I didn't even know what happened until after school. It's really sad. I hope nobody on this forum lost a loved one.

I saw it on the news, before I went to school. I wish the best to all of the victims.

don't forget about the Pentagon folks. that too had people killed on 9/11.

i remember the sight all too well. i know everything i was doing when 9/11 happened. terrible thing.

i was in Social Studies class working on a project explaining myself to the class and suddenly the intercom went up with the principle explaining it and we all had a moment of silence.

um, Mr. Zee, war is kinda what CAUSES terrorists in a way. think about it:
we attack eastern countries for who knows why
eastern countries get mad at us
they send terrorists at us
we battle terrorists
they get even more mad.

edit: i almost lost a loved one at 9/11. one of my uncles works at the Pentagon and his office was blown up. however, he wasn't in the section that got destroyed.

i will give a 30 minute moment of silence for the people killed on 9/11.

normally it actually happens like this (you're thinking too much into the present with this, so bear with me here.)

they perform a small attack because of their dislike of our ideals. we then send out troops to find them (which, to me, is really pointless), and they then attack innocent people at an even higher rate.

and war doesn't cause terrorists to become terrorists. normally, it's people who have an extreme dislike for a side on the political spectrum, such as dislike for liberals (dislike for conservatives produces a lot less terrorists than dislike for liberals.) now bear in mind this extreme prejudice of anyone on the left (liberals) or right (conservatives) of the political spectrum, and anybody who has that extreme prejudice would be most likely the ones to act.

also, religion can influence terrorists into becoming terrorists, despite the fact that the religion primary to middle eastern terrorists, Muslim, is almost the same as Christianity.

Alright! The only way all this could've been prevented, if weapons weren't invented at all. Still, we would need them, because people STILL do wrong things. It's an endless cycle, world peace will never be acheived. There will always be someone wanting to do the bad thing.

What an interesting and intelligent discussion. I am proud that it is happening here on our forums. I have to say that I agree with those who have said war creates terrorists. But I also agree that there are always going to be people doing bad things and true world peace is an ultimately unattainable ideal. However, that isn't going to stop me from trying to reach it. Especially, when I see so many young people having beliefs and expressing them so respectfully and thoughtfully. Keep it up!

I, too, took time this morning to think about September 11th and the ways in which my life has changed because of it. Although it was a horrible tragedy, I hope that I can hold on to the lessons I have learned from it and use them to make the future more hopeful. Thank you all for sharing your feelings and memories from that day. The sense of community and partnership that many Americans now feel is one of those positives hidden among the sadness.

I remember I was in a special class for "Gifted" students in elementary school having fun doing brainteasers. I didn't know about the attacks until around 3:30 PM when my mom told me.
