Default Cant wait any longer so... BLOB FIGHTER!

Oh yeah. Its....Sort of finished.
Currently there is 5 levels, and the only save point is on the final level >.<
So....
Arrows to move
UP TO JUMP(Seriously! i Found the easiest way to make a jumping system)
Z to throw a boomerang
X to throw a boomerang up in the air.
Ctrl to do a basic attack
Shift to do the DOUBLE DASH ATTACK!(no relation to Mario kart, you just have two swords for some reason...Its a bug i made part of the game)
There is a secret mode, but it messes up the game.
If you need any help, there is a tutorial getting posted on my website.

SOME BUGS:
DO NOT JUMP ON THE SAVE ANGEL. I am serious. She floats up higher.
Um... you can sort of fly if you do the dash attack in mid air.
BTW the jumping was a last minute thing. I just..
Well...
I made a script that did this:

Then applied it to this:

UP ARROW KEY-
if jump is NOT equal to 1
set vertical speed -10
set variable jump to 1
and made it so when you hit the ground, jump became 0 again.
Simpler than what the tutorials tell you >.<
(Remember this if you want to make a platformer)

ALSO NOTE: I'm hoping to change my banner to a .png or something, as some people have suggested.
But freewebs has been stupid about images lately.

Ideas:

Eggzilla: Huge, and walks towards the player slowly. Upon death, will stand still for a moment, then falls forwards, dealing massive damage

Thats probably what the golem is supposed to be like. like the eggzilla.
I mean, im good at using variables and stuff, but i want to make it so, well
So if variable <something> is <something>
Then check to see if variable <something> is <something>
So i can make it so it will only check for Dir if another variable like active, is 1.
This is why my monsters don't have AI. Except bouncy. But you haven't seen him yet. And his AI is basically, when he hits the ground, he bounces.
And that repeats 2000 times. so if you leave your computer on for a couple of hours he will stop bouncing. But why would you do that?
Anyway im still gonna be working on blob creator, after this one...But let me tell you.... Theres gonna be something HUGE eventually. A game that will make you sit there and go "AWWWEESSSOOOMMMEEE" Better than castlemania! Well, maby not better....

Except it hasnt been created yet. so i dont know if it will suck.

Oh yeah Ive been sick for the past 3 days. And its the kinda a sick that disallows you to get on the computer that often.
Or out of bed for AN ENTIRE DAY.

Well, if you want to make a game as good as Castlemania, you will need to have used gamemaker for... 3 1/2 years. I started in Summer 2006. And you need to be a fast learner like I am.

But don't worry. If you want that goal (making a game better than Castlemania). I will help you acheive it!

I'll see if I can find Atkins SJ's gamemaker wiki, put it in this thread, and update it.

EDIT:

EDIT2: Also, a good way to prevent the bouncy from not bouncing, is to just check if the floor is below him (check if object "wall" is at position (x,y+vspeed), then get him to jump again.

EDIT3: Uh-oh. I made an update to the Wave attacks to give an example, but it got locked.

Atkins, can you unlock it?

i like what you've done so far, and although it is still just a demo, here are a few things the game needs:

-Music
-Its own little loading screen
-a way to go back to menu from Game over screen
-the buttons should do something when your mouse goes over them (invert collours or sumthing)

Edit:

the way you can endlessly dash with your swords killing everything is a little cheap

Oh, and i love the way your sword kinda bobs around you...

Dash attack has been removed. It is pretty cheap.
There probably wont be any new attacks and such. But there will be new enemys.

cool,

i was just thinking how it took me a while to figure out that certain enemies can only be killeed by certain weapons (basic ground dude sword only) and i like the idea, but it took me a while to figure it out...

also, i would be cool if it had a little more of a platformer feel to it, moving/floating platforms or even just some hills...

Nope. Cant fix it. I CANT USE THIS:
If active is NOT 1,
Check the dir variables. I CANT SUE MULTIPLE VARIABLES FOR SOME REASON.

just check your horizontal speed,

If A is pressed:

if hspeed > 0 { // if going right
//create boomerang going right

Default Needs Moar Game

I'm making more games.
Blob fighter is going super duper duper slow.. so im gonna work on another game. Im too inexperienced to make blob fighter. So im making a simpler game, with REALLY simple monster AI. I really dont know enough about game maker to make a game of that...Ness. But this game will take a while too.
Rome wasn't built in a [Insert amount of time]. Also, im going to MUCH slower with pretty much everything. But im not making any games that take over a month to complete. Kay? Kay.
So....Post about what you think.
HINT: The game im making has MAGIK in it.

Or you can create two different boomerang objects (one going left, one going right), and use the variable sprite_index to see if the current sprite is the one of the player facing left, and if so, create the boomerang going left, if not, create the boomerang going right, and then in the create events for the boomerang objects set them to the desired speed and direction.
Example:

Event: Key Press- Z Key
if sprite_index=player_left
then instance_create(player.x,player.y,boomerang_left)

if sprite_index=player_right
then instance_create(player.x,player.y,boomerang_right)

I'm thinking you should relax you are taking too much stress over making games and it doesn't matter if they are going slow like you said rome wasn't build in a day!
