Lightbulb how we can bring happyponygate back

HappyPonyGate.
We all love new games, and we could have a new one in a few years if we all ( the ones who know programming anyway ) contribute to save this game from forever never-completedness. we could all work on different parts of the game ( editor, monsters, etc. ) to spare jamul doing everything. It may work!

p.s. no negativeness, i dont like it.

Dude, not to be negative, but I offered jamul money to give me the UNFINISHED version of the game, with source, and he politely refused. It will not happen.

you have obviously not read all my post if you think that. jamul may not have even seen this thread yet. if i was jamul, i would like it if somebody wanted to get together a group to finish a canceled game.

I have read it, and considering some of the things Jamul and I discussed (That for privacy's sake (and the fact that I lost all my E-mails somehow) I shall not post.) this will almost definitely not happen. He has RETIRED the Dr. Lunatic engine. Also, I told him I would get it to a playable state, and he still said no. It took me a long time to understand why he wouldn't, but I did, and I fully respect his reasoning. If you think the reason he has not said so himself is because he hasn't seen this yet, PM him!

Yes, I don't see that working; sorry, brocicle. I guess I was considered one of the top people who didn't want Jamul to give up on the game, back then, but I've more or less moved on. And yes, as everyone has been saying the Dr. Luney Engine has been "retired".

I suggest you focus your efforts on persuading Jamul to make 3D games [linear, though, not sandbox] after Loonyland Tactics [a la the Unity Engine, afaik]. All in all, I just want him to move on to bigger and better things. Costume Party is certainly a good game [I adored it especially when it first came out], but I feel it was a step down from SwC or LL2, so two steps up is what I'm personally hoping for, after the website is cleaned up and LL:T is buyable.

Hey, not to be off-topic, but here's some game concepts Jamul was considering a few months back [well, August]. Felix, if you want something to "work" towards [or get semi-excited about], read about these possible possibilities [but even as Jamul states, don't get /too/ hopeful.]

It was going to be an Adventures of Bouapha game, parodying a certain other game, where Bouapha has to sort out an invasion of happy ponies and sweet-based enemies, with upgradable weapons and all kinds of stuff. Yeah, Happy Pony Gate sounded awesome, and all the screen shots looked super cool, but it got out of hand and I now understand why it was ended. Felixrain, you have a good idea, but I doubt Jamul would agree. Also, I like the awesome 3D graphics, not Costume Party, but LL1, LL2, and the adventures of Buopha.

Around here, it seems to be known as "2.5D" [even though you can't have 1/2 a dimension ], because you can't change your view but the characters and pieces are rendered in a 3D program.

The floor was also one of the elements in the game that was 2D. On the other hand, the characters and walls were 3D, hence 2.5D.

From what I remember, it was too difficult and time-consuming for Jamul to do. A small part of it was made, but it will never be released. (Just as well, it would be horribly broken in many ways)

Well, here's how I'd do it:

*Ditch all the complicated bits that made Jamul give up on it in the first place (A skill tree!? What were you thinking, Jamul?)
*No online playability/user made material (We already have SWC and CP filling this role already)
*Simplify RPG elements in the following way:
-Familiar items (Chinese Take-Out, Pants of Power, etc.) become collectible augments that can be attached to both Bouapha and those candy-themed weapons (up to five for Bouapha, three for weapons)
-As little consumable items as possible (less is more)
