Default Games: Fantasy vs. Science-Fiction

Do you prefer science-fiction games or fantasy games?

Sci-Fi, because Fantasy's too cliched; Everybody just uses the same ideas over and over!

I like both, but Sci-Fi is better. Atleast I THINK so...

When I think of Fantasy, I think of Middle Ages, kings and queens, knights and maidens, disturbing beasts, and Anime. When I think of Sci-Fi, I think of space, spaceships, and explosions in space.

I'd say both are cliched, but Fantasy is more. I'm not a big fan of either genre, but I prefer Sci-Fi.

When I think of Fantasy, I think of a world of dreams and imagination and unlimited possibilites (and my Pelsatia stories) :O Not everything in the Fantasy genre is like that, of course, but just from the literal meaning of the word "fantasy", you can tell that that's what it should be. And if you get down to it, Science Fiction is actually the genre that's more 'cliched'. I bet you can't name a single Science Fiction game that doesn't have aliens commanding spaceships. Which is stupid since imo all Science Fiction is actually supposed to be is a possible 'future reality', i.e. how the world might look in some thousand years, and that does not require evil space aliens to appear.

Second Sight, Happyponygate London, the Shadowrun series, Portal, Neuromancer, M.U.L.E., The Matrix Online, Alpha Centauri (only the humans fly a spaceship there, the aliens are strictly land-bound), Tribes, Doom, Sim Colony (same as A.C.)... off the top of my head.

But I voted for fantasy, because I'm just more into it, for games. For movies and reading, sci-fi is probably preferred.

Secret of Mana is a fantasy game.

My e-mail is secretofmanarules.

I think it's obvious what I voted.

Fantasy = pwnz0rz! Though I do like sci-fi novels by Robert J. Sawyer (most of which have disurbing scenes and swear words, but I still enjoy them)

I voted for fantasy because this is for games.
M3h. I'd probably rate fantasy for books, to.

I just prefer the general enviorment of fantasy games. WoW's cartoon-esque graphics kinda skew this, though.

I'm much more of a sci-fi person. It seems more realistic, although both it and fantasy are crazy. I guess I just like machines.

Meh, medieval fantasy is one entire huge cliche- The exact same races, characters, ideas, places, and villains seem to just be re-used over and over and over with just different names and without a single original thought. They just seem to copy all their ideas from Lord of the Rings, Dungeons and Dragons, and Diablo! Fantasy that has managed to ditch the irritatingness of medieval fantasy is quite interesting (such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Rise of Legends), but most of fantasy just bores me to tears. That's why I voted Science Fiction- Although science fiction does have its cliches, it's not as extreme as what happens in most of fantasy.

"Which one(s) do you like" wasn't the question, however.
