Default The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials Series)

How many of you have read the book/series? I have, and I loved it! Also, for those of you who read it, you know Bolvangar, where the armored bears like live? There's a place in Norway called Bolvangar(it's a province or state) and a city in it is called Bear Island. :P

Really? Cool! I read them and loved them. Also, the movie was bad.

There is a gigantic plot hole when you consider what would happen if the Chu- Magesterium tried to launch a hostile invasion of our world...

Yeah, I heard they took out the entire message of the book in the movie.

I'm just going to reiterate my annoyance that they changed the name for the American version. It's Northern Lights! GRAARGH!

It was a while ago when I read them, so I can't remember any plot holes.

Further hint at the plot hole: In the movie, the Magesterium use what appear to be muskets and swords, whereas we use automatic weaponry and explosives...

Spoiler:

The Magesterium invasion would be shot down very fast, and we would quite likely follow them through the window, probably eliminating them entirely.

Well, they did it to sell the movie; can't exactly have the message of the books in a movie and expect it too sell well...

At least LoTR didn't turn out to be a movie set on a space ship XD
