There are no magical trampolines in Sparta. That is difference #1.

I guess it would be cheeky to suggest Cthulu for president? Why vote for the lesser of two evils?

Same.

But still. Both presidents are pretty bad. Let's make up a hypothetical president called Hoboma, which has the good sides of both Hilary and Obama, and the bad sides from neither. Hoboma would still be bad, there just wouldn't be much of himmer.

Wow, this thread is made of awesome. ONOS! Meta-discussion! *Takes it back*

Um, if I hadn't voted for McCain, I would have voted to Hoboma because of the marvellous discussion we had about his name.

Presumably 'himmer' because he's discussing a combination of a man and a woman.

Wouldn't the correct term be "hir", though? I've seen it used on deviantART. -o_-o

But that sounds just like "her." People wouldn't know which you mean. "Himmer" is unambiguous.

"Himmer" is not a real word, though; hir is, at least according to Wiktionary.

"(furry fandom) An objective and possessive third-person pronoun used to refer to hermaphrodite characters."

Well, we know why SP knew that one, then.

If you’re not sure whether it's a man or woman, or you're talking about both, you're supposed to say "him". At least, that the way it used to be. All it means is him/her, but you don't have the awkwardness.

I think 'them' is usually used. 'Him' is deemed politically incorrect.

Politically correct is for [deleted to avoid offending anyone]! I'm sorry to say this, but the people who are offended by every little thing that isn't PC have major issues! You can't expect everybody to be able to never say something that might possibly offend somebody. It just can't happen. If you're not deliberately offending somebody (or saying something that's so insanely insensitive that you really should know better), you're okay. You shouldn't have to worry about whether you might have offended somebody in the world, because some people just choose to be offended by things that really aren't offensive.
Anyway, on topic(ish). "Them" isn't grammatically correct, because it's plural, and the person in question (unless he has multiple personalities) isn't. "Him" is technically correct, as Baconstrips said.

Thing is, there aren't actually many people who really are offended by non-PC stuff. People who hate PC just pretend there are and act like it's a national crisis.

I'm certainly respectful, but trying to go all out politically correct can blow a gasket. (lol) If you accidently say something inappropriate, don't be too proud to apologize and move on.

Agreed. I made a joke about Stephen Harper going to North Korea, and the person I told it to said it was offensive! (It was offensive to dictatorial loonies, but not anyone sane)
