Default I am angry about CARTOONS.

Before I discovered the internet, I preferred wasting my days watching cartoons all day. Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Swat KATS, Animaniacs, Batman, Looney Toons, and lots and lots of other stuff. Good times back then. Good times.

It's a new year, and like it or not, things are different then they used to be. I've quit watching TV a long time ago, because there's never anything good. The old stuff is starting to get replaced by newer, cruddier stuff.

The problem is, y'see, modern children these days, and their crazy, overprotective parents. We don't have hand-drawn animation anymore, we've got people using Flash. We don't have mature (for kid's cartoons, at least) stories and jokes that anyone of any age can enjoy anymore, we have bathroom jokes. And you really, really, don't make me get started on that Fusion Fall MMO.

So, if this is what our current generation is being raised on, it'll only get worse. Well, there's always DVDs and Boomerang, (channel for old cartoons) I guess.

I agree these new genaration cartoons are getting really boring
There is nothing good on TV these days and I've even quit watching sports because of that

I have to agree that there are fewer and fewer good TV shows on. I'm a fan of Family Guy and I find it hilarious much of the time, but I can see how people would hate the show for a lot of its crude humor. If only it were less of the crude, sexual stuff and more of the cultural references. The Simpsons was a show that did just that, but it's declining in quality and resorting to a bit more stupid humor.

Many of the cartoons on are pretty low in quality. However, when I compare today's Cartoon Network cartoons and the stuff back then, they seem pretty similar. The only thing that makes them different is that we're seeing the current stuff at the ages we are and we saw the older stuff when we were younger, less critical on what we saw around ourselves.

I am gonna miss Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Lab though. And Animaniacs, especially.

I liked it when Seth Macfarlane didn't feel the need to constantly bash religion and the jokes were better. :P [The man apparently has 4 projects going on at once.]

I can't stand most cartoons anymore. But then again, when I get a chance to see old cartoons, like The Flintstones, I am usually appalled that I spent so much time watching all that rubbish. We are spoiled today by the internet and DVDs and of course video games.

The last good cartoon I thought was Fairly Odd Parents. And of course The Simpsons, although I never get a chance to watch the new ones and my impression is that it has gone downhill.

The Simpsons is getting really cliched and I think it's a matter of time before it gets cancelled. (That doesn't mean I don't still enjoy it, however) Oddly, I really, really want it to stay on the air. It's been on the air my entire life, and a future where The Simpsons isn't on the air just seems sad to me. Perhaps... Perhaps it is because it's all that remains of the golden era of cartoons. Once it's gone, there will be nothing but the new ones.

Oh, and Looney Toons was awesome, but I only got to see it a few times before it was pulled from the air.

Maybe that's because we've been growing up.

I've pretty much quit watching TV as well.

Same here; I hardly ever watch TV, and when I do it's science shows.

I watch a lot of TV, but very seldom the lower channel, mainstream stuff. Mainly I watch Space (the equivalent of the Scifi channel in the US), Discovery and Comedy. There are also a bunch of movie channels from which I record movies on my computer to watch later. I also like Gordon Ramsay in his three television shows.

I used to watch tons of TV when I was younger, I'd say 5 hours on average. Now, I'd say I only watch 3 hours on weekdays (Simpsons and Family guy at 6-7, Simpsons and Family Guy 10-11, King of the Hill 11-12). Weekends, I don't watch much, if anything.

But yeah, quite a funny show...

I never got to watch much of the Simpsons. What years do you guys consider the "Golden Age" of that show? [Mid-90s to Early 20s?]

I always watch that. Even if I'm watching an episode I've seen several times before. Easily one of the best shows out there.

Mid-to-late 90's, in my opinion. The animation and drawing was getting better and the characters were developed, but the jokes and storyline weren't getting to overused/routine yet. At the start of the series the characters were 2D and flat, but now the story is bland and is used over and over again, just with little differences. (Homer gets a new job, Marge is not satisfied with her marriage, etc.) That said, I still do like The Simpsons, and I try to watch it whenever I can.
