Default I was almost home from school....

... and I arrived at my front door.

Then just as I was opening my front door a car pulls up with the window open. An old guy's head pops out and yells "You live here?"
I say yes. He holds out a piece of notebook paper(Fringes still attached)
I take it and he quickly drives away.
(I'm almost certain he was sitting there waiting for us to walk past his house, the timing was just too perfect...)

Anyway, I got inside and read the note while letting my dog out of her room(We keep her in a room in the basement during the day when no one is home)

And it read....
Quote:
Today is the first
day of continuos
barking.
I WILL NOT TOLERATE IT!
THIS YEAR,
Either you fix it or I wiil!
This is now 4 yrs?

(Name and address removed)

I am getting angry!

There is a law against noise pollution.
Typed as closely as I could get it so it appears like the piece of paper I was handed.(Which was written in a very sloppy cursive, but I'm fairly certain I got all the words right)

Funny thing is, my dog's locked up in a basement. Not much sound is going to get out, and even if it did, she doesn't bark that much.
She whines for afew minutes when she is first put in here room, then she settles down and sleeps.

Another interesting note to mention: The neighbors have two-four little yippy dogs(Not sure, I keep seeing new ones infront of their house on leashes) and the entire time I've been typing this they have been barking.

So, what do I make of this? I'm slightly scared to let my dog out because it sounded kindof threatening. "Fix it or I will" Does that mean he'll call animal control? Or does it mean he'll try to poison my dog?

My other neighbors(Recently moved away) got a similar letter a year or two ago as well, but in the entire time they lived there I never heard their dog bark excessively. It was always nice and quiet and playful...

Sooooo.... What should I do?

Take it to the police and ask about your legal rights, plus show them that he is possibly threatening you, via your dogs life. Honestly, I hate people who do this. We got our dog second hand. Shes ten years old but we've only had her for four. The previous owner had her for three and got her as a one year old (SAR trained mind you) puppy. That's two years she spent in a pound (That's where we got her from). Some people just don't care. He gave her away because she barked a bit, but it's not like a dog who used to work in the SAR would not. He barely ever let her out of her cage.

P.S. No prize for guessing her name.

EDIT:

The bits in bold sound contradicting.

Maybe he only lives there in the summer, and not the winter?

And when we first got our dog she barked alot, and that's probably why he thinks it is her.

So to simplify it:
This is the first day of continuos barking this year, it's been like this for what? The past four years?
I think that's about what he meant...

Anyway, things have gotten worse. My mom called him -_-

ok... sounds spooky. if you're brave enough, tell him that you don't have the noisy dog he's talking about (something like that) but seriously, things like that seem spooky, especially when it's nowhere close to being true.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I just sounds like they're threatening to turn their Wii volume up all the way, to give you a taste of your own medicine.

Except if it was the Wii volume, you could listen to the music and sounds being played, and also the amount of times they fail playing it.

It's nothing. The most they can do is call animal control. But if your dog isn't doing the noise, you have to explain it to them, so that the people involved are blamed for this, not you.

EDIT: Oh, he can't do anything but call animal control unless he's...committed to get rid of this problem. It depends on how far he's willing to go. But people who go to drastic measures are rare.

I think you should call the police. That man sounds like a criminal. For 1 reason, you said your dog is virtually impossible to hear outside the house. And 2, what Megadog said about those lines being contradicting.
