atari is a company that is pure evil! they buy out small companies to gain rights, and don't sell the games! I hope someone (yes, even microsoft) buys them out. also, Dip n' Dots doesn't really have a generic competitor so...

Companies who sell regular icecream are competitors... Dip'n'Dots just have a different look!

Actually... none of those except maybe Kleenex are really genericized yet legally... they're all on the edge. And could you please stop calling me SM? It gets confusing, what with SpaceManiac and all.

Regardless of evil corporate interests, "Legos" always makes me cringe, because you can't have "a Lego". Lego is a plural like 'air', so it would be "some lego" rather than "legos".
Meh.

Also, before now I thought 'jello' was the actual American word for jelly, so I'd say that's been genericised. But I've never heard of Dip n Dots.

I feel entirely the opposite. Lego as a plural sounds grotesque and disturbing like the shimmering edge of a madness birthed from the pulsating heart of the cosmos.

A single brick is in fact a lego. This is law.

I bet this is an independence thing, isn't it? Silly Americans.

I will be having traumatic nightmares following your "a lego" comment. You will be receiving the bill from my therapist.

You can bypass it by creating a nonsense URL BBCode thingy around a space in the same post, e.g.: <url=http://nothing> </url> (only with []brackets). It won't generate a link, but the post will stay all-caps.

It's regular ice cream, except that it's in the shape of tiny shperes.

I found the website, and was presented with this:

I am quite afraid.

Ooh! New flavor! There hasn't been a new flavor for ages, for at least how much I know.

I'll try. It's just what I like to do - use initials for people. [Problems have arisen earlier, though, with "BD".] :P

EDIT: And, to me, it's "Legos" and "Lego sets".

I'm surprized no one else mentioned this yet: Frisbee. It's the name of a company, and they do sell disks, but nearly everyone calls those disks, regardless of the company that made them, "Frisbees" so I imagine it has been "uncopyrighted."

-o.-o

Anyway, I thought it was quite obvious that the singular is lego and the plural... is legolas.

Hula-Hoop is plausible
Dip'n'Dots is not.

No sane person would call

Dip'n'dots.

No one would refer to a PS3 as an atari made console. or that Halo is an Atari Game (well, unless they're horribly ignorant, but they don't count)

Also, I say the plural of legos is legos. Like quite a few other words .

Also SpiderPumpkin, is it die, der, or das with legos?

It's der Lego (ein Lego), of course.
Also, stop using WYSIWYG, it apparently creates weird ugly image links to temporary files that don't work.
