Default Hamumu Clubhouse

Lemme start on how loyal this site has been to me.
(yes, this is a rant)
When I set eyes on hamumu in '06, my expectations were pretty dim. I just played Dumb: the game because i liked those webpage adventures back then. Anyways, I found out about DTG on noridho and saw a glimpse of Hamumu, as well. I just thought it was one of those cheap marketing sites, but when I downloaded the Dr. L SWC demo, I was astonished. The quirkiness of mike complexed me and drew me in. I met him in PAX. He started his own show. I continued to buy.

Here we are, two years later. After my uncle dying from last week, I decided to go on hamumu to cheer me up, wondering if anything happened in my absence.

And the new journal entry I wasnt happy with.

I dont mind mike talking about the storylines and other stuff, but as soon as I saw the two words that I thought I would never see together, "Hamumu Clubhouse" on my screen, I was driven to write this.
So here I am, on my Ds, writing this at 12:09 me and Jamul time just to explain that I am turned off of this new idea and (that I explained more harshly on Ty's thread) that someday, we will all wake up and see a completely new Hamumu, wondering, where all the time went.

Thank you for listening.

Don't you mean "seeing"?

Anyways, I totally agree with your rant.

I see no where that "seeing" would be a more fitting word....?

Anyway, I like that the old yerfdog is coming back. I guess I don't really like or dislike the Clubhouse idea. It really doesn't matter to me.
Why did I add something to make this on topic? It's Total Mayhem...

I'm probably mildly overreacting, but
IT'S JUST A NAME! GET OVER IT!

Ahem. That is all.

This isn't a response to this thread in particular, just the fact that people are making such a fuss about a single small change: a name. It changes nothing. These days it seems that every time Jamul does anything, people start complaining on and on about it with very little reason to do so.

Seriously, what problem does the name cause to anyone?

It changes the image/perception of the entire business. "Penguins Corporation" produces a totally different image of the company than "Club Penguin" does. (Spectaculary bad example, but I hope you know what I mean.)

I know names aren't big of an idea, but what if your ice cream company was named 'Billy's Spicy Burritos'? That would make people think you sell burritos. (Mostly spicy ones.)

It's not a huge deal, I think people are just worried that it will become a place for 5 year-old kids to come, and soon they'll be the only ones here.

Another reason is this. The forums are getting crowded already, and we all like a place were everyone knows eveyone else. If we get hundreds of acting memebers, all those good freinds are going to sperated beyond belief. There will be so many people, all those freinds become seperated, and we are *Pushed out of the loop*
I dont want that to happen. I know it just a name, but I like Hamumu the way it is now. I want Mike to get more money, as much money as he could possiably get but, there are other ways besides flooding the forums.

I guess I've been one of the larger complainers. Sorry Atkins and Jamul; my opinion probably won't change, but I'll stop writing so negatively. :P

As far as I'm concerned, this has already happened.

If the problem is that loads of new members are going to come flooding in, then that's a bit silly, as surely, to some extent, that's what Jamul wants: new customers, and hopefully people who will hang around and become part of the community.

This is the wrong thread to say this, but I would be grateful if there was, therefore, some way of rewarding people who hang around. I'm probably bias, but I'm not just saying this for my own sake. I think it would be a good idea to filter out people who are 'loyal customers' from those who just turn up then leave.

By the way, another off-topic bit here. On another forum that I'm a part of, they have a 'New Member' sub-forum, where new members are encouraged to make a thread, introducing themselves, etc, so people can get to know them and what they're about. The main idea is to sort the active members from those who join and them don't post.

Active members not knowing one another that well anymore isn't really the fault of new members coming to Hamumu as much as people that are already here not sticking around and letting themselves be "replaced" by newcomers.

At another forum I used to go to occasionally, long-time members received a special title under their name reserved specifically for them. Don't know how much sense that would make though, and I actually don't think the long-time members in question (e.g. myself) should be deciding about that, for obvious reasons :P

Nothing's going to stop people from making introduction threads in General Blabber; in fact a lot of people do. Ironically, half of them end up disappearing not too long after introducing themselves, so that doesn't really work that well as a "filter". I'm not quite sure why anyone would need one anyway. People can just sort the member list by posts to find out who does and who doesn't post.

Regarding the name change, I don't really see why it's necessary, and it's got a sort of "Club Penguin" type feel to it, so I predict that all it's gonna do is damage Hamumu's reputation. If it had been named something like "Hamumu Clubhouse" back then, I'm not sure if I would have ever joined this forum (though there were some more older (as in age) members active back then, so it didn't seem that "kiddy". The average age of a Hamumu Forum member appears to have sunk a lot though, so using a Club Penguin-type name in addition to that would only put the lid on it and further "scare" older members away imho).

That's fair enough, but I was just pointing it out because, on this other forum, I feel that it's working quite well. It's not just about new members showing that they exist, or that they're going ot be posting, but rather about being able to fit in quicker and relate to other people through shared interests, etc. And also having the opportunity to ask plenty of questions.

Also, relating to that note, I suppose also, now that I think about it, it enables all the new-comers to have a place away from all the mayhem of the rest of the forums. I can't remember when I originally joined the Hamumu community, but I imagine it must have been quite daunting coming into this world where everyone is friends with everyone else. You feel like an outsider.

So, I don't know. It was just a slight suggestion, and is getting completely off topic now. But relating to the clubhouse thing, I personally believe that supporting new members is almost, if not, as important as rewarding the older members, etc.

Yes. That's what I'm saying. I don't mind a name change, just change it to something other then "Clubhouse". Please.

I think you're all missing the point. The problem isn't about there being tons of new members, but that they'll all be little kids! I used to go to someones house every friday night who has two 3-year-olds, and a 6-year-old; my entire family treats me like I'm 5 years younger than I am (and I'm 14 by the way); at school I'm working half the time, and it doesn't even matter now cause it's summer vacation! I need a place where I can just down and talk with people who I can relate to, so I don't mind a bunch of new members, I actually prefer it; but if those new members are all 5-10 years younger than me... well that's just something I can't take! So I agree with HSM, I don't mind the name change to attract more people, but can it please be something other than "Hamumu Clubhouse"

Ok everyone, I have to agree that I don't find the name change a good idea, my all-time-favourite website is slowly getting worse and worse. First, Jamul edited the site some months before I joined the forums, I belive in 2007 and removed termites, wallpapers ,taglines and more, then he quits making games using the awesome Dr.Lunatic engine, the reason I love Hamumu games. I know this is a bit off-topic, but The maze of ludicrosity is so hard and long and has so many annoying traps that I never had the chance to make a room. Anyway, TM is getting more and more spammy, and most new members never post at the forum, because they just create an account to play CP, and many of them just play a few free levels and go. In my oppinion, changing the name to Hamumu Clubhouse, is just going to make things worse, with more and more 8-year olds coming and registering just to say "LUL DIS GAME CSOTUME PATRI ROX 2 BAD DER ARE OS AMNY LEVELS I CNAT PLAY THEM" or "Lolz i got 5 posts, lets spam this thread 2 get more. ONOES WHY DOESN'T POSTS IN THE TM FORUM COUNT AND SPAM FROM OTHER FORUMS GETS DE1337ED IM LEAVING THIS FORUM IM NEVAH GUNNA GET 10000 POSTS " I agree with everyone who said it would break the reputation of Hamumu, and don't see how it could help. Anyway, this is all I have to say about this subject and I will not take any more part in this gonna-become-flamewar

GUYS! Chill! It's just a name! and PE, that's just crazy, Atkins is right, 8 years old don't talk like that.
And if they leave this forum, then what's all the complaining about? All the older members will be still here. Jamul has taken care of spam in the past and he shall continue to do so in the future, I believe you're overreacting. No offence intended to anyone.

I really wish that those who are teling us to chill, would chill! We know that it's just a name! All were asking is that Jamul considers a different name, and if it takes 5 threads to do so than so be it! We're just trying to post as many good reasons as we can until Jamul finally gets our point, and PE's was a vary good one. Exajorating? Yes, Overexajorating? I don't think so! Atkins, Max, you're the people who need to calm down about this!
