Default C-c-c-college

I'm going to college! (Well, a community college) And... I'm learning programming.

For one of my classes (The programming one, well the one on campus, it has an online class co-requirement thing) I had to get two books. Starting out with Programming Logic & Design and Starting Out with Alice (A visual introduction to programming, FIRST EDITION. Included is version 2.0... and there's a 2.2 version already out... And a 3.0 version being worked on... that might be able to export to java...). Both by this fella named Tony Gaddis.

Oh and yes, I did catch a glimpse of an Alice in Wonderland model in the Alice book.

Good luck with your computer studies. I went to a computer college fifteen years ago, Humber College in Toronto. They are attached to a research institute which developed the robotic arm used in the space station. I learned a lot of stuff and was able to get a job when I graduated. It all seems like so long ago now, before my son was born (he was born in my final year).

I'm going to college, too! Or, I would be, if the school didn't forget to make me take that pesky 10th grade writing test that's required for a diploma.

Cool! I've heard of Alice before but it doesn't look like the kind of programming thingy I'd like to use.

And I'm certainly no semaphore! My first day of 9th grade is on the 24th (I think).

I almost added a comment of kindergarten. (Which, when translated from German, roughly means child garden. It's been awhile since I've taken German... so it's a little rusty. )

So Atkins, what's the highest Year one can get in England?

Year 13 I think, which is the last year of sixth form and A-levels. And I have no idea how to convert that into the American system. It's non-compulsory, and the last year before university.

Uh... It'd be something like taking a college prepardeness class in the summer, after our Year 13 (12th grade)...
Doesn't quite fit, in any case.

Ontario used to have a grade 13, which was an extra year to take courses which would prepare you for university. To be in grade thirteen you had to take academic stream courses (as opposed to general stream) starting from grade 9. But now high school ends with grade 12, the same as in all the other provinces in Canada.

From what I understand, sixth form is generically junior/senior year in high school (grades 11 and 12), while A-levels are specifically when you're taking advanced classes, such as taking AP or IB classes in the US.
