Default How threads work in Total Mayhem

Boredom lead to me making this:

I probably missed a bunch of points and made a bunch of mistakes and stuff.

Sometimes I wonder why I have no self confidence. Then I look at the chart again.

In order for people to contribute to a thread, there has to be something worth contributing to. ie, if you post a thread about how much you love ponies, and nobody else likes ponies, you're not going to get the discussion about ponies that you wanted.

In a similar way, if you post apparent nonsense, it'll get grouped together with the other nonsense in Guess What Folks? - otherwise there end-up being too many nonsense threads.

Basically, don't take it personally.

That works for nonsense topics that don't have any sort of topic at all - but most of the time people post complete nonsense in Guess What Folks /anyway/. There are topics here that have had a general topic (like the one with lyrics from Cirno's Perfect Math Class (R.I.P)) that have been merged with Guess What Folks for no reason that anybody other than the person merging them can see.

Frankly, I can very well see the reason. A thread with song lyrics as the first post doesn't exactly have the right to be an individual thread because there is no topic one could post anything about.

But when other people start posting them there, it becomes it's own idea, and therefore it makes sense as it's own thread.

There would be a topic like "post song lyrics here" in the first post though if that was the intention of those threads. A thread containing only copy & pasted song lyrics in the first post has no topic.

I don't really think merging is the answer to these threads.
There's a thread where all the nonsense posts are supposed to go... In the forum that all the nonsense threads are supposed to go... Why? It's like merging all birthday topics into one topic in a forum that's purpose is to wish people happy birthday. If the problem is volume.. Sure, merging may fix the immediate problem, but then you have to deal with the annoyed posters who aren't even breaking any rules. And by alienating those posters, you're creating a hostile environment for them. Which is, in fact, against the rules. Another solution should be found.

((Opinionated moderator is opinionated))

EDIT: Also, I rather enjoy reading at least 90% of what gets merged, and that, to me, is more than enough purpose for a thread.

Though I'm not really that bad, I decided to poke fun at myself. For the sake of poking fun at myself.

You created a thread of flow charts about thread, starting with me making one about the cycle of my posts.
And thats how the cookie crumbles.
