Exclamation So, what would you miss?

My computer's power supply recently got fried by a power surge. Right when I noticed, I wasn't sure if my computer had broken completely! That really got me thinking about what I would be sad that I would have lost due to an event such as this. So I was wondering, what would you miss the most if your computer lost all its data!

I'll start... mine would probably be all the Flash games, I spend so much time working with Flash for so many of my everyday situations, I would just completely lose all the work I've done since I've gotten it.

I would probably miss all the games that I've got on this computer, before my old computer got fried, I transferred all my games onto this laptop. There are atleast 30 games that are way way old like from 1999.

I have almost all of my data backed up onto various external hard drives. Only the newest stuff would be lost. Some audio recordings and photos. The loss of all my Sims and Spore stuff would be annoying, though.

Same here - backed up all over the place (the pay-off of paranoia! ). The things I'd miss the most if my machine was fried would be Word+Dragon, FL Studio and easy access to the internet while a replacement was sorted out.

There might be other things that I'd be deeply distressed to be parted from for a while, but there might also be seasonal reasons for not mentioning those....

Since I don't have any programs that I can't get back, on this computer, and since most of the time I just use firefox, instead of playing, I would miss all my cookies and saved passwords.

Yerfmaze 2, Sims and Spore stuff, my unfinished SWC worlds,my bookmarked pages, and my games. Losing all saves isn't a good thing.

along with all my games(the ones i made), i would also miss all the data on my games(the ones i bought), having to restart on all of them and whatnot...

also, me and blackduck already discussed this, but i thought i'd share it, because its pretty funny;

first, you need to understand that me and blackduck live in the same town, you also need to know that my dad is a lineman. anyways, i was telling my dad about the power outage at blackduck's and he went "wait? did you say it happened the other morning? that wasn't a power outage, that was me! we had to shut off the power to fix something."

small world...

also, im happy blackduck's computer is back up, or else im not sure he would have taken this so lightly!

I would miss my game projects, stories, drawings, compositions, etc... All the stuff I've made myself and which I can't simply get back by redownloading/-installing.

My Spore and Sims data, Rome Total War data, and my GameMaker games which took me a long time to gather up each and every one (except for 1...).

When my XP died a long time ago, the loss was more substantial then if my Vista died now. I still miss my unfinished Supreme worlds...

Since this recently happened to me, I will say what I DO miss. I lost RPG Maker XP, and now have to either shell out another 60 bucks or just live without, I lost ALL my Hamumu games, including a couple of DR. L. Worlds that were very close to being sent to WTG. I lost all my pictures, including very important ones from a recent trip to Italy. So, yeah, it's hard to lose all your computer files.

What a bummer! I hope you learned from this awful experience and keep your data backed up, even if just on a data key. I think you an get them up to eight GB or more now. They aren't too expensive these days. If you don't have one I would definitely ask parents or whoever for one, perhaps for Christmas. For masses of data you could get an external hard drive. In Toronto at Future Shop you can get 1.5 TB for something like $200 Canadian.

I would miss my two LL2 games. I don't know what else I'd miss besides the Hamumu forums (until I got it repaired).
