Cool BTD Revamp discussion

Since Jamul stated that BTD is coming back, it's time to bring up a new thread on it. As with the last thread, I'll be pointing out the notable happenings of each episode so people like you can make a discussion based around it (or say completely "dumb" things).

Well, if I recall correctly, Jamul said he'd have Daibaka MAX out by Feb 14 (give it to your sweetheart; it's Valentine's Day!), which seems incredible to have it done so quickly. But if he thinks it will get him the money he needs for the latest 3Dsmax, more power to him.

Honestly, I'm not terribly surprised at the lose of profits (though it certainly is unfortunate.) People wanted another game with the epicness of LL2, and while Costume Party is fun, it might feel a little too "disposable." It doesn't have a storyline, specific adventures, roaming abilities, etc., and it's full-on
2D ?spriteness?.

I'm not terribly sad to see LL:T go, but I know other people are, so I don't necessarily believe that's the best option. But again, if it really, /really/ means adventures and crate-smashing ($35+ game), then I can support its dismissal.

Nice Flash goofiness, btw.

Hidden art! (at least, I don't think it's ever been in a Joinal before)

Reminds me for ZP, only more to my interests. Apparently, Jamul needs money! But I've got all the CD games, so I can't do much.

But once Robot wants Kitty gets sponsered, playing it might help! Huzzah!

Lemme just nip that concept in the bud before everybody jumps on it - What YOU personally prefer does not define the market. Costume Party is no less popular than the other top games around here. My issues are with awareness of the company, not which games I chose to make. After all, so few people have ever seen ANY of my games that I don't even really need to make new games - I just need to get the games in front of more eyes! It's all about marketing.

I don't want people running off with that concept. Hamumu is very unknown, and that's what needs fixing.

Well sure - I'm just one person in a sea of customers.

But wouldn't you agree that it didn't make as "big of a bang" (so to speak) when it first came out, as SwC or LL2?

Again, most likely true, but I do recall you writing (a while ago) that people might be turned off by some of the aspects of the games (mainly just graphical). I mean, there is a reason why you scrapped the Dr. L engine and are focused on getting new 3D rendering software - to attract new customers, right?

I'm not going to argue with you about how my own business works. I just wanted to correct misinformation.

I am not sad at all that LL:T is dead, and I'm looking forward to Ratchet and Clank style crate smashing in the next game. Jamul, You should start a poll or something of your ideas to see what hamumu REALLY wants.

I'm quite pleased with what's (hopefully) going to happen. I don't really mind there being a lack of new games, since I'd prefer having hours of conversations with new Hamumuians over playing a game for a few hours, but that's just me.

Just noticed this in the Newsletter:
Quote:
It's a Sol Hunt game! But you won't really see her, since she's encased in the awe-inspiring battle armor Daibaka MAX. It's a side-scrolling shooter with a whole lot of twists.
Toenoes, Sol Hunt! It is doomed to fail. *cries*

Too bad Loonyland Tactics was canceled... but at least we got a bunch of cool Order Bunnies out of development!

Oh, should've added the video parts I found the most amusing:

- MONIES!
- Jamul whispering things to nearby strangers
- The expert who looks like he belongs in "Mad Men"
- "Oh the Hamumuity"
- Jamul's happy Flash dance
- "Yeah right" - let's hope that isn't the case. :P
- Hamul

@Jamul: Is this gonna be a more "monthly" series rather than a weekly one?

Yes, the beginning of each month sees a BTD as well as a newsletter.

i think you should edit the text up from the video(Behind The Dumb is a (supposedly) weekly web series showing you the process behind developing Loonyland Tactics, our (hopefully) upcoming game. Catch all the episodes below! You can post and read comments on them by clicking the episode date below each video.)

Better description:

Behind the Dumb is a web series created by Mike Hommel. Each episode since Episode 9 is, alongside the Newsletter, a monthly update in video chronicling the development of Hamumu Software's latest "in development" game (since the cancellation of LL: Tactics).

As of this moment, BTD #10 is a mostly email-focused episode. I know this because I emailed Jamul about it.

Sounds cool! I hope some of those emails relate to Project X.
