Default Sound Recorder

Does anyone know where I could get a free thing that records just the sound coming from my computer, like the sounds of a game, or something like that? A free video recorder that also captures sound would be good as well (CamStudio gives me an error when I try to have it use my speakers, and I don't want HyperCam, with its ugly watermark.).

Fraps is a good videorecorder but it works only on games and some programs, doesnt record sound(the program says it can,but the videos are without music) and makes really big files(a song from Guitar hero had 5gb!!!!!)but you can convert it to very small videos.
download http://www.fraps.com/

EDIT:
whoops, camstudio doesn't work for you
try webcam max? not sure if the trial version can do what you need

also, you could try re-installing camstudio, that might fix the error, albeit i don't know the specifications of said error

Hypercam, I don't see what's wrong with it. The watermark is only like a little bit of the top left. It lags alot but has really good quality, and there's so many youtube videos recorded from it that nobody will even notice the watermark.

(camstudio has terrible quality but it runs fast)

I already have Fraps, but it only does full-screen. The error I get when I try to use my speakers on CamStudio says "WaveoutGetSelectControl() failed". I think it might have something to do with CamStudio not having my speaker's full name in the speaker selection section, and me not knowing what the name of my comp's speakers is (it's something like "Realtek High Definition _______" probably, because CamStudio only puts down "Realtek High Definiti").

if this helps at all, you can go in Control Panel\sound (on vista) it's most likely something similar on other versions of windows (which i assume you have) anyways, it'll show you the name of the speakers your computer is currently using

Thanks, but it still did not work. I can type in the full name, but when I close the options window, and then open it again, the box is blank, probably because it has a character limit. I CAN get CamStudio to work with my microphone sound, but that makes the sound from my comp sound bad. I also tried using my headphone speakers, but the exact same thing happened. So yeah, CamStudio will not work. And also, about the Hypercam watermark, it annoys me a lot, and in my opinion, it makes videos look a bit unproffesional, and that's why I do not like it.

well an alternative is to get yourself a cable (i couldn't say what it's called) but basically you plug one end into your Mic port, and the other end into your Speaker port, not sure how much it costs, but the audio quality is assured.

The problem is that I have a laptop, and the speakers are built in.

Seriously, guys?

Oh, and Pewskeepski's question, both CamStudio and Fraps let you do it, its under options on CamStudio, and under the Movies tab on Fraps.

If there's no headphone port on the laptop then whoever designed it was an idiot

we use these at school a lot for projects, such a thing has never happened
i could see it cause a problem though if your recording program played what it was recording through the speakers so then it would record what the speakers are sending off which is what you're recording, but that would be silly of the audio recording program.

oh, and my bad, when i said speaker port what i should have said is headset port, essentially the same thing, but that's what laptops have

I do have a headphone port, but I don't use that port for my headphones, I use headphones that plug into a USB port. And I don't really get what you're saying...
