Default Boycotting CartoonNetwork

Okay well I'm sure that most of you old enough to remember Toonami aren't happy that the 4 hour TV show block that was aired on CartoonNetwork was canceled in 2008. I have been unhappy with cartoon network for so long and now I have officially decided to boycott CartoonNetwork and it's late-night channel AdultSwim. Well let me admit that I am 14 and wasn't around for the start of Toonami but I was around for the majority of it's years. I am an anime fan and without Toonami I never even would of known what anime was at all, Toonami aired my first favorite show which was YuYu Hakusho. I got grounded over that show at least 3 times in my lifetime because I stayed up late watching it past my bedtime (keep in mind that was in 2003) during my childhood I was obsessed with Toonami, so that was a big part of my childhood and when they aired their little "goodbye, and we are leaving" broadcast I was literally in tears... I was emotionally scarred because of that mistake they made. And It's not just Toonami ending that makes me so mad, it's also the shows they air now, they are terrible... hey whatever happened to the good shows that I grew up with? I am sick and tired of these CGI shows, and if your reading this and you are among the younger kids who enjoy those "shows" I can understand why you would not appreciate me saying that about your shows. But if you grew up the same time I did you would be exposed to those shows and you would see that they are100 times better than whats on now. And the shows that I'm talking about me growing up with are stuff like Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Lab, stuff like that. And another thing the shows today are so terrible in my opinion because all the material has been used before, it's unoriginal, and you know you used it first when it was original? the TV shows that I grew up with and the stuff our parents grew up with. Ever since CartoonNetwork canceled Toonami and changed their logo things have just been downhill, the shows are getting worse, and they are losing viewers. CartoonNetwork used to be good. I mean now they are showing live action shows with real actors and not cartoon characters, it's just not CartoonNetwork anymore. Me boycotting this most likely won't change a thing but hey its worth a shot... and if you feel the same way then join me.

It's true that most of CartoonNetwork's shows are bad today. I also sorta remember that... I think. anyways, I don't really watch it much anymore, although I do watch Boomerang, and that's not gonna change.

Ya well I'm stuck with cable and don't have many other choices... and Nickelodeon and Disney Channel are just as bad... and because I have cable I don't get boomerang but I have On Demand and I have some Boomerang shows on there

Nick is pretty much terrible now, Disney... is just disney. I mention Boomerang because sometime it has a commercial that says "Boomerang, from CartoonNetwork". The only other channel I watch is Discovery usually

Boycotting Adult Swim is a bit silly unless you intend to boycott all of Turner Broadcasting System. While they occupy the same channel, they aren't the same station.

I remember when CN didn't even show anime. At first they showed classic Looney Toons, I personally preferred that over Dragon Ball Z, I mean like an entire season was basically Vegeta charging a power shot! Kinda stupid frankly...

This is why I use the net. It's not like there's enough good shows on TV stations to keep me saying that I love the channel.

The best anime, IMO, never gets english dubbed, which makes it harder to watch in North America/Europe/Etc.

It's not the shows that are decreasing in quality, it's that you're growing out of the target audience.

I'd say it's a mixture of both, I have to say that the new cartoons just throw in a bunch of crude humor ("fart" jokes) and don't make as many references for the older audiences. (I know Spongebob did that, as well as quite a few kid movies). So basically yes, we don't like them because we're no longer in the target audience, but it's because we're realizing that they're very shallow and don't offer much beyond quick slapstick comedy.

I wish they would bring back "nicktoons"
Shows like...Rocko's Modern Life, Doug, Hey Arnold, The Angry Beavers, AHHH Real Monsters.....those were the good cartoons to watch. I can't stand watching many of the new cartoons...and I really don't like anime

I remember a really old show, so old I forget the name, where the protagonist was a kid with a living stone hammer. I LOVED that show! But it's gone, along with good digimon...

Flint the Time Detective. It matches your description. So that's probably the show you're thinking of.
