Lightbulb filtering

Please add to Custom Search an option not to show levels that require unowned packs.
I.e. hide Dumb, Fantasy and Dumb+Fantasy levels from listings (I own Winter Pack due to Advent of Indies)

I requested this a while back when I didn't have creator's pack or any packs or anything, and Jamul said he won't and/or can't do it. The whole point of not having creator's pack and/or packs is that there is disadvantages.

And the disadvantages should end at not being able to play certain levels. Players should not have to slug through tons of pages to play the game just because they don't own the packs, that is completely ridiculous and makes the game borderline unplayable for a lot of people.

And that's what I complained about, but Jamul didn't change it. he said he wasn't going to. So I might be semi-mad if he does change it because this guy asks for it to be added.
(for corrections, I wasn't attempting to imply that I wanted players to go through trillions of pages to find a no-packs level. I just simply complained about it before and nothing happened.)

Default Exactly!

Exactly what I'm trying to say!
Instead of having bunches of pages of redded out levels, just have a reminder
Quote:
1200 levels hidden due to you not owning the following packs: (d) (f)
where (d) and (f) are replaced with corresponding packs' icons.

Oh look a solution. Now Costume Party won't have to look like a [insert DLC producing company here] game. Hooray!

No but really I tried to play Costume Party again and it was pretty much impossible to find levels I could play.

it's a PITA to find levels even with one out of 3 DLCs owned. Say, that piggo behind "Swapping the kids" chose to infest the level with canes. This behavior furthers the need for a special filter, as I bet MAJORITY of levels are made with easy-to-unlock tiles and only throw a mismatched DLC item just out of being elitist and wanting to "lock the noobs out". But as it's impossible to play and moderate each level, I suggest adding a filter or a third sorting option to hide levels requiring unowned DLC.

At some point in the distant past (when there were only one or two packs and certainly far fewer levels using them) Jamul said he wasn't planning on adding this feature, and it's even less likely now since it's been several years since the game was last updated. I can definitely understand your worry, though, considering how many of the levels in any reasonable search will require the packs. I'll have to see if I have enough money lying around to gift you the expansions.

Why would you give somebody free Costume Party expansions?!

well, I think Jamul should've set up a reviewer system with 3 or 4 reviewers owning the fullest game and able to review levels (for both out-of-elitism item use and swear words written within levels).
If there is ever a Costume Party 2 (or HD), I'd like the search show a small banner on the top, "# levels hidden due to you not owning those packs: ..."
@SpaceManiac, I don't need any extra packs, I want the filtering (or maybe "available first" search option) to be added - if not in the original, then in CP HD or CP 2 if there's a chance for any of them.coming out. Furthermore, then more would like the free version and subsequently more would pay for Editor and packs

I doubt people go into the level making thinking "MUahahaha, I hate people who don't have every pack, so I'm going to stick this in just to spite them!"

They probably just wanted the item in the level because they think it's cool. Especially if they just unlocked some shiny new item after working on an achievement forever. They're going to want to use it. It's mostly kids that make the levels, they probably don't even think about the fact that some people won't be able to play their levels. Try to tone down the cynicism a bit.

In any case, I think a sorting feature should difinately be added. It's got to be a big turn off to people when they pop up the free version of CP and they can't play ANY level. (Though there are actually plenty of levels they could play, but good luck finding them)

1. Bump.
2. If you simply try purchasing something you can see that there is still the option to buy with yerfbucks.
3. I suspect you misread this, it actually says quite the opposite from what you suggest:

I've also removed the ability to purchase with anything other than Paypal or Yerfbucks!
