Woohoo, 500 thread views! Mission accomplished, I can stop working on this now.

Just kidding. Time to do some tile art for the Halls of History!

While I want to play this (but am waiting for the 'full' release), and want to hear about its progress, but I also worry about receiving too many spoilers (ex. spoiled the surprise of what's hidden in the ice maze).

Be sure to keep some of the sekrits secret :P

The stuff stated is relatively easy to find, but I'll try using spoiler tags if they are present.

Spoiler tags are a good idea, yeah.

Got a few areas to design which shouldn't be TOO big or complicated, and then I can do another pre-release! You'll be able to finally get that Sharpening Stone, among other things.

Turns out you can only use 16 music files, which is the total number I wanted to use for this. So I'll be offering 3 slightly different downloads at a time in the future: one without custom music (for smaller file size), one with the partial set of custom music (only 10 of the 16 tracks I want), and a full download with all 16 tracks, but to use that you should backup or rename song000 through song005 in loonyland2/music, otherwise they will be overwritten.
In the meantime, I'm finishing the Homicidal Hillside - it's a NASTY one! Not a lot to it; mostly just a miniboss that you might not want to try to kill the first time you see it.

Finished a secret area called the Bear Lair.

It has bears in it.

Incidentally, there are certain items (such as Ropes, Shovel, Wing Boots) which, if placed in the editor, cannot be picked up. (These items were never meant to be picked up, but only obtained through Quests and Shops, and the Wing Boots were never made available.) However, you can use specials to give the player items. So I will be putting the Wing Boots in my world as an obtainable item, and using specials to make carrying it actually do something. Sure is a lot you can do if you know how!

Blehhh, trying to figure out a good color scheme for the more opulent city. I tried changing all the arena tiles to grey so it looks like stone, but that just looks super bland and dull. I'll try something else.

I might try changing it to a lighter grey, or dark yellow, but I don't want any sort of bright colors because I want it to look like stone. I did use brown stone for one structure (the Rooms of Research, in the middle of the Treacherous Taiga).

Could you use the specific colors of the grey rocks?

That would be a lighter grey, yeah. Don't think it would be TOO hard to do that sort of colorswap.

PRERELEASE 2.
I've expanded the area north of Einsburg. The central Treacherous Taiga area has been designed, as has a bit of the ground to the east. Mostly stuff around the middle though.
There are three downloads.
Full music: Contains all 16 tracks. I rearranged the order of the tracks, so the music is not compatible with prerelease 1 - you'll need to redownload. However, YOU WILL NEED TO BACKUP OR RENAME the files song000.ogg through song005.ogg in your loonyland2/music folder or they will be overwritten. Or just copy the whole LL2 directory or something.
Some music: Only contains 10 tracks. Will not overwrite the original LL2 music, so you can use the same LL2 directory to play Absurd Area and Winter Woods.
No music: Contains no music; only uses the standard Winter Woods soundtrack.

Notes for testers:
32 presents
6 bokboks
10 Objective Points for 11 Upgrades
6 Snowman chests
13 completed quests
can be obtained in this prerelease.

Have fun! Let me know if anything breaks.

Last Note: There are many places in Absurd Area where items are lying on the ground - equipment, potions, gems, etc. If you step near them, Absurd Area will assume that you pick up everything in the area. So, if you only pick up some of the potions or whatever, or even just get really close and then go away or die, they will not be attainable. Which is annoying, but it's pretty much just like how when you bump a chest all the stuff flies out and if you don't pick it up it's gone forever right? So whatever.

Oh Yeah One More Thing: There will be a couple places in Absurd Area (only one so far) where you can knock down a wall by hitting it with a projectile. You MUST hit it with a projectile though (slashing won't work), so you must have some upgrade and 1 point in a skill that lets you either throw an axe or shoot something magical. Having a Cryozoid attack an enemy that you lured in front of the wall does count; it doesn't have to be a direct hit as long as a projectile is doing something nearby. So if you go slashing axes only, you won't be able to break walls until you invest at least 1 upgrade and skill point into throwing or something.

OK WHOOPS FOUND A BUG
Replace absurdarea.llw with this one. Minor bug that made one of the Presents inaccesible.

If you downloaded Prerelease 2 before right... NOW, you should probably replace absurdarea.llw with the link I added to the previous post. However, if you haven't downloaded it yet, I updated the zip files so they now have the corrected .llw.

I'm currently missing two presents and a bok-bok. Also, I love the vault, it's fantastic.

Did you download it before the fix? If so, one of the presents may be inaccessible without hacking your profile file. If you know how to upload your profile file I could hack it for you.

Which two bokboks did you get? I placed a total of 3 new ones, all in Treacherous Taiga.

Glad you like the vault! I had fun placing the loads and loads of loot there. Also there are 2 items to find besides money and gems; did you get them both?

Also, more generally, I note that there are hidden presents and things just all over in this world - but, if you can spare the Skill Points, you could get the Explorer upgrade and put a few into Tracking. Make running down those Bok Boks much easier! Of course, I generally save my skill points for the skills that let me blow stuff up XD

I got the rope, and while I can't remember what it was, I think I got the other one. Also, if you tell me which present might be impossible to get, I can see if I got it or can get it.

The other one was a parka, which the Guru reveals to be a 5/5 Lucky Parka of Luck. Fitting that it should be in the treasure vault, I thought! The present that might be impossible was the present I added in the vault, which is in a little path off the bottom-right room that has a chest in it. If it isn't there, and you don't remember getting one in the vault, it needs a small profile hack to correct. Which I could actually probably upload a .ips patch for if necessary. (It would use the same program you use to patch the .exe, and you'd just select your character's .loony file instead.)

Also, 2 of the bokboks in the Treacherous Taiga were placed right next to presents so that might be the other present. Did you find a break in the rock wall around the taiga anywhere?

Also, did you find the wall to break down to connect to Mickey's cellar? I put that connection there so that, after you've been to the taiga, you can make a second route between Einsburg and the Rooms of Research so you don't have to go through the Perilous Pass each time!
