Default My number is larger

The goal is to come up with a computable, finite, well-defined number that's Larger than the last poster's number. You can only use already established numbers and notations and you can't refer directly to the previous number
I start with one million or 1000000
Also, if someone questions the size of your number, you have to be able to prove that it's really bigger than the previous one.

I'm not entirely certain what the goal is here, but I see your 10^6 and raise you 2^20, 1,048,576.

I raise up to 20^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^20
This is a very large number according to knuth's up arrow notation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knuth%2...arrow_notation

OED's number is Grahams's number which is the largest number ever used in mathematics. It is in fact larger.

I don't see why we escalated all the way to grahams number; since

10
^
10
^
10

By itself already provides us with enough digits to fill 50 "average" novels.

The smallest number bigger than any number that can be named by an expression in the language of first order set-theory with less than a Graham's number symbols

You said a lot of words there, but even as someone studying 200 level math I didn't totally understand what you just said. It seems like you are just trying to make up larger finite numbers without any definition for it.

If that's the case, I'm creating a new numerical format, infimal, which is base infinity. I then say that the number 10 in that format is larger than your number.

Infinity is undefined which makes base infinity incoherent.

Shhh, just imagine, grahams number has a single, coherent symbol representing it. The problem is non-intergers...

  1. Pick a first-order set theory.
  2. This theory has a language of what symbols it can contain.
  3. Write a string composed of symbols in this language.
  4. Constrain this string to a maximum size of G (Graham's number) symbols.
  5. Further constrain this string so that it is a valid expression in the language.
  6. Additionally constrain this string so that it evaluates to a number.
  7. Find the string naming the largest number out of all such strings.
  8. Take the number named by this string.
  9. Take the smallest number larger than this number.
  10. Result.
The problems are step 1 (there's a lot of those), step 6 (how are you getting basic set theory expressions to map to numbers?), and step 9 (I don't think this is usually considered a valid operation).
