I got an idea for you Jamul , why don't you try making games for other systems , like dr,l on playstation wich would be unbelievably cool. That would be nice but also hard to post edited levels.

I completely agree - If I could, I would only make games for console systems! It's much more fun and everything is so much more 'solid'. But here's the deal... to make games for a console, you have to buy the development kit for several kajillion dollars (not quite that much, but more than I've earned off of ALL my games combined!). That, however, is only a very SMALL part of the problem! The big part is that your game then has to be approved by Sony/Sega/Nintendo, whoever, and you need to have a big-time publisher go and publish it (because a small developer can't get the CD's made the special way they need to), and it has to go to stores and all kinds of things. It's completely impossible for a developer to handle all that, it has to be done by a big publishing house. And they of course don't want to waste effort on some silly 2-D game... after all "The kids want the 3D Tomb Raider Quake C&C Game!!" (tm). So, that's why I'm glad, and very lucky, that PC game development is completely open to anyone, and I can try to sell my games anyway I can and I don't need approval or financing to do it all. And that's also why I will always be making PC games rather than games for some fancy console. Even though I like console games 100x more. And you should notice how the games I make, I try to make them act and feel as much like console games as I can. They're very simple, just a few controls, easy to install, no complex setup options. I try to treat the PC as a console. It's hard though, with all the possible different hardware people can have, but it's what I try to do!

And yeah, nobody could make Dr. L levels and trade them on the playstation (unless they were really small and you could trade them on a memory card, but they're not that small!).

ya your right it would be hard (I enjoy pc much better but i have freinds wanting to play Dr.L but don't have a computer). It would be nice to be able to trade worlds but they didnt make it that way, but you might be able to do it on a dreamcast, becouse they can get on the internet, but it brings me back to the money issue ( why do those greedy people got to keep down a small time busiuness, but you'll make it trust me you got great games).

Yeah, the way they make the money on games is this: They have to completely approve every game that comes out for their system, then they (not positive on this step) do all the manufacturing of the discs themselves, and they take something like $5 per game sold, so the prices have to be higher so that the developer/publisher can make a profit. Then they have special deals like the Greatest Hits games and stuff where they cut a break on their royalties and all... it's a sordid business. It's good to be in charge of all the distribution myself.
