According to this, I think Ninja Academy is 2.5D:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2.5-D

I couldn't find anything about 5D. What would the 5th dimension be, anyway?

It would either be a second dimension of time (like time squared, where you can not only go forward in time but also backward and sideways...) or a fourth dimension of space, which is pictured in the last part of this picture, stolen from Wikipedia:

According to string theory, there are ten or eleven dimensions. Some people say there are infinite dimesnions...

*Head asplodes* (We should really have a smiley for that! )
I wonder what going sideways in time would be like, anyway...

Actually, who says time is 1-dimensional, as a line. It could be merely a point, and we don't move in time, but everything is, in effect, happening at once. That idea isn't going to be popular with anyone interested in time teavel, though.

My guess is that time is sort of like a guitar, but with infinite strings, hereforth called frames. Time is moving forward on all of those frames, but each previous frame is a tiny bit off the time of the frames around it, something like 10^-50 seconds.

The human consciousness for us right now exists in one frame, but there are infinite other frames that we could exist on.

Time travel would merely involve switching particles of a human-being from one time-frame to another. Of course, all of the frames would need to sync up every 10^-50 seconds for this to happen.

What makes you think time is made of individual frames? Where did you get "10^-50 seconds" from? (if anything, it would be 10^-42) I think time is probably more like a continuum; not separate frames but one long continuous and infinitely detailed line of points, each of which is a frame of time.

One time-space theory I like is one that Daniel Pinkwater, a famous American children's author came up with. He said that reality is made of time, space, and the other. Time is like a map of new Jersey, in which you can go to any location in time and they all exist, just in different points in time. It has to be a map of New Jersey though, because other states are the wrong shape. Space is like a bagel, but an elliptical bagel with poppy seeds. "The other" is like a tossed salad, with only one of your favorite ingredients in it.

I have no idea what you are all talking bout!

Anyway, if I remember rightly, I voted for 'Pick whichever the design calls for, and keep it a good mix of both!'

It's just a guess.

Speaking of dimensions, there is a theory that if this whole universe was destroyed by a "Big Crunch", a duplicate of this universe would still exist in another dimension.
Back on the main topic, I like 2d games or any games that'll run on my computer. (My Pentium 4 makes the concept of "Windows "Experience"" seem like crap. )

*HALF-BAKED THEORY ALERT!*

Heres my theory: Time is a human created thing. There is no such thing as time. However, there might be a way to travel through 'time'. I beleive there are infinite dimensions, each one just slightly different from the last. The next dimension, for instance, might feature NGSP's avatar as a chinese symbol instead of a whatever he has now. Since there are an infinite number of dimensions, there is an infinite number of possibilities or combinations or whatever(Of those dimensions) So somewhere, there HAS to be a dimension that is the exact same thing as this, only one year in the past. Time travel would only be a matter of switching to that dimension.

Meh.

I think the idea that every possible action you could do happens in one of infinite dimensions is just an excuse for people to behave badly.

You see, in another dimension, I would have posted inapropriate links in this post, thus getting banned. Glad im not in that dimension!

Make a 2.5D game: a game with 3D graphics, but it's a sidescroller.

P.S: 2.5D idea from Nintendo Power Magazine!

I like 2D a lot (like kid mystic and Dr.Lunatic), but I think it would be cool to see more 3D games.

I guess 3D, because you have more freedom for artwork (though that isn't Jamul's favourite subject).

I like 2D still. And as seen with Blockworld, it isn't likely that anything 3D would be an option.

Thank you, Keenan, for getting this topic back on track. I have to agree that 2.5D would be the best. I don't like 3D games that are controlled by a keyboard. If it's 3D, it needs a joystick or some other special controller.

No way... If there is another game like DRL(Normal or SWC) or LL(1 and 2) We Need a key board

If it is a Birds Eye View RTS Like Starcraft, mice are absolutly nessisary Particualy the Right Button (For those who play SC it is very helpful, for BR It's Nessisary)

Dr.L isn't exactly 3D. It's 2D movement, with 3D models.
