Default DuckWorld

Yay! Mouse's operation was a success! The surgeon said all went well and so did her geneticist. I was in Yale Hospital from 6:20am to 8pm. It gave me lots of time to make up 90% of DuckWorld (world for SWC).
And she was in good spirits when I left her in her room.
However, I think it really was the 2 percosets they gave her.

Anyways, DuckWorld is back on track! But...I only have the ideas...making the specials behave is a different story. :P
Like, making summons summon what I want. I didn't see a special specific
for that one. Or even, a tile that generates light (Lanterns). I have to manually do that. And....one more....a special that erases more than one
special. I learned to use the "If passed levels <=> n" thing insted, but I first used delete specials first...But it was only one at a time.

Anyway...this is one newbie worldmaker person's journey...

Follow me on this path...and be enlightened as I am too!
I think this is a good opportunity to discuss the editor and it's uses.
Help for the editor is in the X:\Program Files\Supreme\Docs in HTML format if you need it.
And I suggest http://www.pantsofpower.com for more goodies.
A few parts are a hair outdated, but it a great resource for beginners!

So as I learn, you learn too....so we don't flood WorldTesterGuy with
stuff just to put out a world. Let all read the guides, hints, and forums to see where good worlds go bad.
And most of all...when you send the world in to be tested, do not be discouraged when it comes back with many notes on what is wrong...no one, and I mean, no one, has ever make a world right the first time.

See? I learned that bit of info from reading the forums. I never submitted a world yet. But...I AM building one. And you can too. Just be patient, and most of all...have fun!!!
And if I have any issues (and I will!), I'll post 'em.
Thats what Jamul's company is all about. Having fun. Meeting like-minded friends. And once more...having fun!

So....on with the show!!!!

Well I'll tell you this - Delete Special is not soething you're likely to ever need. I don't think I've used it once. It definitely has its place, but I think you're missing the much easier path if you find yourself using it at this point!

Certainly like you said, to limit access to a level, you'd use "if passed N levels or more" (and make sure you say Or More, or people will end up stuck when they pass one level too many!).

Just about anything reasonably normal has been done before lots of times, so feel free to load up other worlds in the editor and see what their specials say. I'd say the older worlds are probably easier to follow, before people got crazy with all the wacky new powers!

Now thats another good idea. We can look at the worlds other people made and use the editor to do it. We will discover a wealth of information.
(Now, why didnt I think of that before?...hmm, guess I'm a bit slow.LOL)

Exactly who are you calling wacky!

Deleting specials is necessary sometimes, but the delete has its own quirks, like you can only delete specials which are executed an unlimited times.

You can however delete up to 5 specials in one special. Just put one delete special in each effect.

Also, if you're going to look at the specials in older worlds, I feel compelled to tell you to ignore the stack of empty specials that you will find at coordinates 0,0 in many of them.

I have had three worlds released, and no changes were required by WTG! Wanta know the secret? When you have a question, post it. People, especially Jamul and Hammered, are FANTASTIC about helping.

Anyway, your hub is fantastic, much better than my first (or second ... or third). So I'm impressed and looking forward to DuckWorld.

It also helps a lot if you have someone to test the world before you send it to WTG! For example, I tested Christian's worlds and she tests mine!

Nuts, I knew there was SOMETHING I forgot to say! I agree. All my bugs ( ) were found before the world was submitted. Lots of people will be willing to help -- just post in the World Progress thread and you may have to turn testers away!

One additonal thought: I do use the delete special special (echo, echo). I'm not sure what Hammered was talking about with the unlimited uses thing since I've never had a problem with my simplistic worlds, but my favorite use for it is to make a message go away!! You know those worlds where you get a pop up message in the hub right away? Well, that's useful information the first time you read it, but the message becomes tedious after awhile. So in my worlds with a pop up message, I delete the special calling for the message after a player has passed one or more levels. Make sense?

Well, I went through Ducky's specials one by one and critiqued them. I didn't do that with your first world, because by the time I got it, it was a lot bigger than just a hub and one partial level and since Ducky pointed out the error of your ways while I was still asleep, I figured I would just let him have the glory, seeing as how he was so proud of displaying his new knowledge.

Yeah...I like knowing things. Well, on this one, I knew she was asleep (It was 4am when I posted) and I figured I'd save her some typing.

Well, I stopped strutting around since no one but Tabitha could see me and she made me feel silly (she sometime has the most human responces, she cocked her head with a, "err...daddy? What are you doing?").

I love my cat.
.^ ^
(|) (|)
.=x=

But she tends to have the bad habit of brushing up against me when I'm in a tricky spot on Surpreme and tickles the heck outta my leg.
Sheesh, an attention getter if there ever was one. Can't play if your leg half tickles, half itches.

Well, that was the point of my creating this post. To show the new pups, and the...er...seasoned canines who never built a level or tried and gave up, that it's easy, fun, and only limited by your imagination (and patience).

Game on, Hamumu nuts!

- Ducky (One happy duck, for my own reasons)

Wow! My cat, Shadow, has been reading this over my shoulder and she can't believe all this talk of mayhem in the heart of an innocent little kitty cat, but I told her that wasn't so shocking as what I just noticed: posts by a duck, then a crow, then an owl! I don't think I have ever seen so much fowl language on the Hamumu forums!
